Today after breakfast, your local guide will meet you at your riad for a guided tour of the exciting city of Fes. The first stop of the day will be the Royal Palace followed by a walk the old Mellah, or Jewish Quarter. (If you are interested in Jewish Heritage sites, this stop is a great place to experience some of those.)
From here, you'll head to one of the Borj (towers) for a panoramic view of the entire medina. Next, you will visit a mosaic house for a demonstration of the traditional pottery methods used by Fassi artisans. You will see the whole process from the mixing of the clay to the piecing together of mosaics.
After this, you will step back in time as you enter the largest pedestrian-only old city in the world. Here you will wander through the ancient streets and neighborhoods, seeing the various artisan sections, including the famed tanneries. Along the way, you will make stops at some of the important historic monuments of the city such as the Tomb of Idriss II and the Al-Qarawaiyin University, the oldest continually operated university in the world.
Your tour will end in the mid-afternoon and afterwards you'll have the rest of the day free to explore on your own.
