This morning, you'll want to be sure to wake up early, grab a cup of coffee, and climb one of the nearby dunes to watch as the sun rises and changes the color of the sand to a fiery red. After this near transcendental experience, you'll enjoy breakfast at camp and have time to prepare for your day before climbing on your camel one more time for the trek back to the edge of the dunes where you will meet your tour manager to continue your journey. (Note that a 4x4 transfer is available back if you prefer.)
From here, you will begin to make your way towards the Valley of Roses. Before leaving the desert region, though, stop to visit the ancient irrigation system that once brought water to the oasis from the distant black mountains. You'll explore the site from above and below before heading on.
After this, you'll head to the oasis town of Tinghir, where you will have a guided walk of the palmeraie. This walk takes about an hour and includes a stop at a local rug cooperative for a demonstration of how the famous Berber rugs are made as well as learn the meaning of various motifs found in the finished products. Should you wish to purchase a rug, this is a great place to do it - not only do the proceeds go directly to the women who make the rugs, but this cooperative also sources the wool from nomad families; however, there is no obligation to buy.
From here, you'll make the short drive to Todgha Gorge where you will take a short stroll through the most impressive part of the canyon before completing the final leg of today's adventure to the beautiful Dades River Valley, where you will stop for the night.
Dinner will be served at your accommodations tonight!
