Travel the Golden Circle to see Geysir, the double-cascade Gullfoss Waterfall, and Thingvellir National Park, where you can stand on the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge.
Located in Iceland’s Haukadalur Valley along the famous Golden Circle route, Geysir (or "The Great Geysir") is the historic namesake for all erupting hot springs worldwide. While Geysir itself is mostly dormant today, visitors can easily watch the highly active Strokkur geyser erupt boiling water up to 30 meters into the air every 5–10 minutes.
Gullfoss (Golden Falls) is a spectacular two-tiered waterfall located in Southwest Iceland on the Hvítá River. As a central stop on the Golden Circle route, it drops \(32\) meters (\(105\) feet) into a rugged canyon.
Thingvellir National Park in Iceland is world-renowned as a UNESCO World Heritage site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates drift apart, allowing visitors to walk between continents. It is also the historic site of the Alþingi (Althing), the world’s oldest, continuously operating parliament, established in 930 AD.
