The Bookish MilSpouse Retreat

Join us for our first ever retreat! Meet other members, share your love for reading, and try your luck at one of our giveaways. 

Hotel: Our host is DoubleTree by Hilton Washington DC Crystal City. Located just a short walk away from the Pentagon, they are accustomed to hosting Military members and their families. The hotel offers an array of amenities, including free shuttle service to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. They also have the only rotating restaurant in Washington DC! They have graciously extended our room block rate to include the 3 days before and 3 days after our event for anyone wanting to spend some extra time in our Nation’s Capital. Discounted parking is $29 per day. Group rates are available until 21 days before the event.

Event Schedule: 

• Friday Welcome Reception 7:00 - 9:00 pm: Join us for light refreshments at our event kickoff!
• Saturday Event 9:00am - 4:00 pm: During our main event we will have an array of bookish games, activities and discussion. Doors will open at 9:00am. Lunch will be provided. 

  • 9:00 - 10:00 am will be a reading and socializing hour.
  • 2:00 - 4:00 pm - Author Panel followed by a meet and greet
  • Saturday evening: enjoy free time exploring the city with friends, or reading a book.
• Sunday Farewell Sendoff 9:30 - 12:00 pm : Stop in or join us for more rounds of games as well as collecting any giveaways you’ve won. Say goodbye to your new friends, or spend time making plans if you are staying longer!

Event Notes: to prepare for the event here are some key notes

• Our reception dress code is cocktail attire OR dress as your favorite book character
• Our book discussion will take place immediately following lunch on Saturday. Our voted on books are:

  • The Women by Kristin Hannah
  • Till Summer Do Us Part by Megan Quinn
• We will have a "Blind Date With A Book" exchange. If you would like to submit a book you should bring it wrapped to the reception with a short, fun description on the wrapping.
• Please fill out the form that is linked to the right to inform us of any food allergies you have.

You are more than welcome to bring your families. However, the event is restricted to event ticket holders only. Children are not allowed into the event. Childcare is not provided. Registration tickets are non-refundable. Registration tickets can be transferred. If transferring a ticket to another member, the event organizer must be notified of the transfer. Ticket sales are being processed by TravelFanStore.com.
