Railroads of the Old West is a five-day escorted journey through some of the most scenic and storied rail corridors in the Rocky Mountain region. Beginning in Colorado Springs and traveling through Cañon City, Leadville, Alamosa, Durango, Ouray, and Georgetown, the experience combines historic train routes with mountain landscapes, charming downtowns, and the spirit of classic Western travel.

Guests will ride the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, Royal Gorge Route Railroad, Leadville Railroad, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, and Georgetown Loop Railroad. Day 1 – Pikes Peak & Arrival Experience
Begin in Colorado Springs with a ride aboard the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, ascending to over 14,000 feet for sweeping alpine views. Time in Manitou Springs offers a relaxed start before continuing to Cañon City for a welcome dinner and evening at leisure.

Day 2 – Royal Gorge & Leadville
Travel through dramatic canyon landscapes aboard the Royal Gorge Route Railroad with breakfast included. Continue into Colorado’s high country for a scenic ride on the Leadville Railroad before heading to Alamosa for the evening.

Day 3 – Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad
A full-day rail experience aboard one of the most celebrated narrow-gauge railroads in the country. This journey crosses rugged mountain terrain between Colorado and New Mexico, offering an immersive look at historic rail travel and untouched landscapes.

Day 4 – Durango, Silverton & the San Juan Mountains
Ride the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad through the breathtaking Animas River Canyon. Enjoy time in Silverton before continuing through the San Juan Mountains to Ouray, often referred to as the “Switzerland of America.”

Day 5 – Georgetown Loop & Return Through the Rockies
Cross back over the Continental Divide and experience the Georgetown Loop Railroad, paired with a tour of the Lebanon Silver Mine. The journey concludes with a scenic return to Colorado Springs.
