This small-group journey combines some of the country’s most iconic sights - the Golden Circle, dramatic waterfalls, volcanic landscapes, and the southern coast - with the unforgettable experience of chasing the Northern Lights. All while traveling with fellow local women, making it an approachable and social way to experience Iceland together.

Purpose of the Trip
This trip is designed as a community travel experience reated by the founder of Raleigh Women Who Travel, a local network of women who love exploring the world and building meaningful connections at home along the way.
It’s a chance to experience one of the world’s most dramatic landscapes while building connections, sharing experiences, and creating unforgettable memories together.
We'll have a pre-departure dinner in Raleigh to get to know everyone on the trip, as well as a post-return dinner to relive the memories and continue to build the friendships developed during the trip.

Golden Circle

One of Iceland’s most famous sightseeing routes featuring geysers, waterfalls, and Þingvellir National Park - a UNESCO World Heritage Site where tectonic plates meet.
South Coast Waterfalls

The southern coast is home to some of Iceland’s most dramatic landscapes, including the towering Skógafoss waterfall and the unique Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the cascading water.
Lava Cave Exploration

Step inside Iceland’s volcanic past as we explore a lava cave formed by ancient eruptions, an incredible way to see the geology of Iceland up close.
Northern Lights Viewing

Our countryside stay provides two evenings where conditions may allow us to witness the Aurora Borealis dancing across Iceland’s night sky. Pictured is where we're staying!

Travel insurance is required for this trip and must include emergency medical coverage of at least $200,000 USD, including emergency evacuation and repatriation.

What is Raleigh Women Who Travel?
Raleigh Women Who Travel is a Facebook community created for adventurous women in the Raleigh area who love exploring the world. It’s a supportive space to share travel tips, plan monthly meetups, and connect with like-minded local women.
Is this trip only for members of Raleigh Women Who Travel?
No! Anyone based in Raleigh or the surrounding areas who identifies as a woman, or nonbinary folks who feel comfortable in women-centered spaces, is welcome to join the tour. I do highly recommend joining the Raleigh Women Who Travel Facebook group, not just for trip updates, but for all the amazing travel tips, inspiration, and connections you’ll find there.
If we don’t hit our minimum of 8 travelers, the trip may be opened to the public to ensure everyone’s investment is protected.
Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. Travel insurance is required for this trip and must include emergency medical coverage of at least $200,000 USD, including emergency evacuation and repatriation.
Within 48 hours of placing your deposit, I will send you a travel insurance quote through my trusted partner that you can review and purchase if you choose. Is airfare included?
No. International flights to and from Iceland are not included.
Travelers should wait to book flights until the trip is officially confirmed and you receive guidance on recommended arrival and departure timing.
You will have the option of adding flights to your itinerary so they are handled for you.
What airport should I fly into?
You should plan to fly into Keflavík International Airport (KEF), which serves the capital city of Reykjavík.
Will we definitely see the Northern Lights?
The trip includes two nights with opportunities to view the Northern Lights, but sightings are not guaranteed.
The aurora is a natural phenomenon and visibility depends on weather conditions, cloud cover, and solar activity. October is considered a good time of year for potential sightings, especially outside city lights.
Do I need to share a room?
Pricing is based on double occupancy, meaning two travelers share a room.
The options are to:
- Request to be paired with another traveler
- Take a survey so you'll be strategically matched with another traveler
- Book a single room (SOLD OUT)
How physically demanding is this trip?
This itinerary involves moderate activity, including walking outdoors, uneven terrain, and standing for periods of time at scenic sites.
Most travelers who are comfortable walking a few miles per day at a relaxed pace should find the trip manageable.
What is the accommodation style?
This trip uses standard hotels and an Icelandic guesthouse, consistent with the tour operator’s classic small-group travel style.
While accommodations are comfortable and well-located, they are not luxury properties.
What meals are included?
The trip includes:

Travelers should budget approximately $190–$250 USD for additional meals during the trip.
What happens after I submit the sign-up form?
Once you submit the sign-up form:
- I will manually apply your deposit payment to secure your spot (when you authorize payment, it is NOT automatically applied).
- You will receive a booking confirmation and next steps.
- Within 48 hours, you will receive a travel insurance quote for review (optional to purchase).
- As we get closer to departure, additional trip details and group updates will be provided.
What if I need to cancel?
Cancellation terms are set by the tour operator.
- 60+ days before departure: Loss of deposit.
- 30–59 days before departure: Loss of deposit + 50% loss of final payment.
- Within 30 days of departure: Loss of deposit + 100% loss of final payment.
Travel insurance can help protect you financially if unexpected events prevent you from traveling.
When should I book flights?

How big will the group be?
This trip will have 8–16 travelers.
A minimum of 8 participants is required for this departure to operate as a private Raleigh Women Who Travel group.
