Retreat to Kythéra with Brette Popper

Jun 19 - 26, 2027

Our family has been coming to Greece for many summers. Throughout that time, I have repeatedly heard of a special place called Kythera. The “Birthplace of Aphrodite,” where the Goddess of Love first rose from the foam of the sea. Kythera, usually categorized as one of the Ionian Islands is far away from the others.

Three years ago, I had the opportunity to visit island’s wildflowers and mountainous terrain. Its turquoise waters and cave-filled beaches made my heart sing. With only about 3,500 people living there year-round, its rugged, unspoiled and not touristy. There are few of the extravagant hotels, shopping venues and nightclubs that have come to characterize other Greek islands.

The 2027 Breathe Deep Retreat to Kythera offers you the opportunity to slow down, reset, reenergize and experience the true Greece. Each day you’ll wake up with a gentle movement practice and meditation, eat a fresh breakfast, take an asana class in the beautiful shala created at the Porto Delfino Hotel. During your free mid-afternoon you can make your way to the nearby town for lunch, swim in the sea or pool, have a treatment at the hotel’s well-appointed spa or just nap.

Then I’ll teach an afternoon class that focuses on restorative postures and breathwork and we’ll all meet around 8 for a group dinner made from ingredients straight from the garden, pasture or sea.

Some special excursions are planned, like a boat ride around the island so we can visit beaches that are only accessible from the sea and an herbal workshop with a local expert, experienced with the renown healing qualities of Kythera’s flora.

I hope you can join me for an experience of yoga, relaxation and breathing the salty air together by the sea. The simplest expression of pure joy.
