Portugal: Village Walks and the Douro Valley

May 19 - 29, 2026

Join me on this active adventure through Portugal. We will start in Lisbon with a 2-day whirl through the city and travel to Sintra to tour the iconic Pena Palace. Day three starts our walking tour through the countryside, starting with Medelim. We will share village-to-village hikes, centuries-old castles, Portuguese legends and traditions, and delicious food near the Spanish border.

After our countryside walks, we will head to the Douro Valley, famous for its vineyards and beauty. We will spend a couple of days hiking from wine tasting to beautiful vistas and back to wine tasting. We will walk along the Douro River, through the Pinhao hills, and weave through historic village streets.

Our tour concludes in Porto, where we have the choice of an e-bike or a boat tour for our last full day in Portugal.

We will be walking about 5-6 miles a day. This could be your motivation to prepare, but please be honest with yourself about your ability and desire to commit to this level of activity.

A $350 deposit is due to secure your place on the tour (does not include the deposit for 2 nights in Lisbon). There are only 15 spots available on this tour.

The final payment is due by March 23, 2026.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation 60 days or more prior to departure = Deposit paid will become a Lifetime Deposit (LTD) and stay on file in your name to use on a G Adventures trip in the future.
Cancellation between 30 and 59 days prior to departure = LTD + 50% loss of final payment
Cancellation within 30 days of departure = LTD + 100% loss of final payment
