• Vienna, Austria: Board the AMADEUS Riva on embarkation day and step into Vienna at its most beautiful. A guided imperial tour of the Ringstrasse, a visit to the Rathausplatz Christmas Market, and an optional classical concert — Vienna at Christmas is something you have to see to believe.
• Melk / Wachau Valley, Austria: Sail through the UNESCO-listed Wachau Valley and visit Melk Abbey, a stunning baroque jewel perched high above the Danube that is still a working school today. Then warm up with a mulled wine party on board as the winter landscape drifts past.
• Passau, Germany: Where three rivers meet — the Danube, Inn, and Ilz. A guided walking tour through the romantic old town, and an organ concert inside St. Stephen's Cathedral, home to one of the largest cathedral organs in the world.
• Regensburg, Germany: A medieval city with a Christmas market set inside the grounds of the princely Thurn & Taxis Palace. It costs extra to get in — but it is included for our group — and the quality of the handmade goods there is unlike anything you will find at other markets.
• Nuremberg, Germany: One of Germany's oldest Christmas markets in a medieval old town that is so quintessentially German you will want to wander for hours. Sample Nürnberger Lebkuchen — and I need you to forget what you think you know about gingerbread, because what they make there is something else entirely.
• Munich, Germany: Three full nights in one of Germany's most beautiful cities. A guided walking tour, the Munich Residenz museum, a full-day excursion to Neuschwanstein Castle, and time to simply soak the city in on your own.
