  • Frequently Asked Questions

    image.png

    How active are the excursions?

One of the advantages of traveling with AmaWaterways is having choices. Many walking tours are offered at different activity levels, allowing you to select a pace that is comfortable for you. Depending on the destination, you may also find more active options such as hiking and biking tours. Some historic French towns do have cobblestones, stairs and uneven surfaces, so a reasonable level of mobility is helpful. Storyline Travel can help you understand the excursion options before your trip so you can choose the experiences that best suit you.

    Is airfare included?

Airfare is not included in the cruise fare.

Can Storyline Travel arrange our flights?

Yes. Storyline Travel can assist with your international flights. We'll review the available options with you and help determine the flight arrangements that make the most sense for your overall trip.

    What should we expect onboard?

AmaWaterways offers an intimate river cruise experience with comfortable accommodations, attentive service and a relaxed atmosphere. Days typically combine time exploring ashore with opportunities to enjoy the scenery from the ship. Onboard you'll find regionally inspired dining, inviting lounges and public spaces, a Sun Deck, entertainment and plenty of opportunities to relax and get to know your fellow travelers.

Is this a good first river cruise?

Absolutely. The Rhône is an excellent introduction to European river cruising, particularly for travelers who enjoy history, culture and food. You can unpack once while visiting a variety of destinations, and many excursions are already included. Traveling as part of our Storyline Travel hosted group adds another level of support, making this an especially comfortable way to experience your first river cruise.

    What's included in the fare?

Your AmaWaterways cruise fare includes your stateroom accommodations, onboard dining, a variety of guided shore excursions, Wi-Fi and onboard entertainment. On European sailings, AmaWaterways also includes select beverages with meals and its Sip & Sail cocktail hour. Port charges are included in the published 2027 cruise price. Your final group package also includes additional amenities and exclusive Storyline Travel hosted experiences.

    Can dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Yes. AmaWaterways can accommodate many dietary needs, including gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and low-sodium diets, as well as many food allergies. Dietary requirements should be provided in advance so the culinary team can prepare appropriately. Guests with severe food allergies should also speak with the culinary team once onboard.

What are the Storyline Travel hosted experiences?

That's part of the surprise! We're designing special experiences exclusively for our hosted group that complement our French food and chocolate theme and give you opportunities to experience southern France beyond the traditional sightseeing itinerary.

  • Travel Protection

We highly recommend that all clients purchase a travel insurance policy to protect their investment in their travel. Cruise lines, airlines, hotels, and tour operators all charge high penalties for cancellation, ranging from the full deposit to no refund at all. And, keep in mind that most health insurance policies will not cover you when you are out of the country. Travel insurance can protect you in the event of trip cancellation, trip delay, trip interruption, missed connection, baggage loss, theft or damage, baggage delay, emergency medical and dental expenses, and emergency medical transportation, among other unforeseen circumstances.

Travel Insurance Quotes provided upon request.
