A Celebration of Beer on the Enchanting Rhine

Jul 29 - Aug 8, 2027

Sail the UNESCO-designated Rhine from Basel to Amsterdam, where castle-studded banks and storybook towns set the stage for a flavorful journey through Europe’s rich brewing heritage, complete with tastings, hikes, and bike adventures. Celebration of Beer river cruises offer a specialized, beer-focused twist on premium river cruising. They are unique because they perfectly balance exclusive brewery excursions and guided tastings with the line's award-winning dining and regional sightseeing, creating an experience focused on beer appreciation rather than traditional Oktoberfest-style partying (nothing wrong with that, either!).

  • What makes AMA Waterways' Celebrations of Beer cruises special?

Your Europe. Through a pint glass.

Not just a cruise. A deep dive into Europe's most storied brewing culture.

    Expert on board
A resident beer host leads tastings, talks, and walks you through the history of every pour — no dry lectures, just stories worth telling.

    Go behind the brew
Shore excursions take you inside traditions of Kölsch brewing and legendary Altbier taverns in Düsseldorf — places most tourists never see.

    Food that earns its pairing
AmaWaterways is renowned for its cuisine. On beer sailings, local brews are matched to regionally inspired dishes — always thoughtful.

    Routes worth the journey
Sail the Rhine River past medieval castles and village squares — scenery that makes the journey as memorable as the destination.

    Your kind of crowd
Small, intimate ships mean you're traveling with a curated group of fellow beer lovers — the conversations flow as freely as the beer.

Want to extend your travel before or after the cruise? I am happy to help plan the rest of your European vacation- let's chat!

  • Optional extentions are in the works!

I am working on an optional pre-cruise extension, most likely including München (my favorite city), a city with a strong history of beer. I'm also considering planning a few extra nights in Amsterdam because it's truly an incredible city. Stay tuned!

All guests must arrive in Basel by July 31. Arriving in Europe on August 1, day of embarkation, is strongly discouraged.
