Feral Abroad: Athens to Rome by Sea
Aug 25 - Sep 10, 2027

What to Expect
A custom-built 14 day Athens-to-Rome Mediterranean adventure anchored by a 9-night Virgin Voyages sailing, with pre-cruise time in Athens, post-cruise time in Rome, and optional Italy road trip extensions for anyone not quite ready to behave yet.
This is what happens when the group chat stops saying “we should do something sometime” and accidentally becomes a Mediterranean cruise with ancient ruins, island nonsense, pasta, wine, and at least one person declaring they were “born for this lifestyle.”
Come for the history. Stay for the food.
This is big Mediterranean energy with better stories, better scenery, and just enough structure to keep the whole thing from becoming an international incident.
August 26-28, Athens
We’re kicking things off in Athens, because if we’re going to make memories, we may as well start where history has been making a scene for a few thousand years. Think ancient ruins, big mythology energy, incredible food, strong coffee, rooftop drinks, late-night wandering, and that first glorious moment when everyone collectively stops checking work email.
August 29, Piraeus - Sept 7 Civitavecchia
Board Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady ship for the main event: a 9-night sailing from Athens to Rome with Virgin Voyages— with Greek islands, coastal cities, sea days, dramatic scenery, and plenty of on ship shenanigans - that means Dodgeball or Bingo with the Diva is a must do.
Expected cruise itinerary:
- Athens departure
- Day at sea
- Bodrum
- Santorini
- Mykonos
- Valletta
- Catania
- Amalfi Coast
- Rome arrival
Sept 7-9, Rome
Land in Rome and stick around for a few days of ancient ruins, pasta, wine, espresso, piazzas, fountains, dramatic hand gestures, and pretending you’re not already planning your return.
Think Colosseum wandering, pasta ordering, wine drinking, fountain-staring, neighbourhood wandering, and that dangerous little feeling of “what if I simply became Italian now?” A few things planned. Plenty left open. Exactly enough structure to keep it smooth, and enough breathing room for the nonsense to find you.
Pricing Starting From: $5,500* CAD per personThis is a custom-designed travel proposal, not a guaranteed package.
Before you pack your emotional-support linen pants: * Starting price is for inspiration and planning only and is based on estimated cruise, land accommodation, flights, transfers, and select activities. Actual pricing can shift based on flights, cruise fare, cabin category, taxes and port fees, hotel rates, transfers, travel dates, number of travellers, optional add-ons, and how fancy or feral you decide to make this thing. Final pricing and availability are confirmed at quote/booking. Pricing can change until confirmed in writing.
Because the cruise is the anchor piece of this adventure, travellers are encouraged to grab their cruise spot early while preferred cabin options and group-friendly pricing are still available.

This adventure is a great fit for:
- Friend groups, couples, siblings, and group-chat instigators
- Travellers who want Greece, Italy, and sea days without building the whole thing themselves
- People who like food, wine, ruins, views, wandering, and a little unscheduled nonsense
- Cruise-curious travellers who want something more modern and less traditional
- Anyone who wants structure, but not a clipboard vacation
- Coming home with better stories than souvenirs
This is especially fun for people who want a trip that feels scenic, spontaneous, wine-soaked, story-rich, and just unhinged enough to become family lore.
Trip pace
This trip has a moderate pace with international flights, hotel changes, cruise embarkation and disembarkation, port days, walking, stairs, cobblestones, heat, crowds, and busy sightseeing environments. Athens, Rome, and many Mediterranean port stops can include uneven sidewalks, hills, stairs, tender boats where applicable, and longer walking days depending on the activities chosen.
That said, the trip can be shaped to suit different comfort levels. We can look at more central hotels, private transfers, lighter sightseeing days, accessible-friendly activity options, and a more relaxed flow where needed.
