  • MORE INFORMATION & FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    What excursions are available?

Star Clippers maintains a list of excursions that they offer to their onboard guests. Typically, that list is available about 3 months prior to embarkation.  All excursions will be booked once onboard the ship, via a sign up sheet at the Excursions Desk. There is no need (and no way) to sign up in advance!

    Will I get seasick?

The ship has stabilizers to keep it from rocking and rolling too much and in general, the seas you will be sailing in are mostly calm. However, storms and winds can kick up, making the seas a bit more rough. If you are prone to seasickness, it’s recommended to keep a seasickness patch on while at sea. I’ll also do my best to try to find you a cabin as centrally located as possible, based on current availability.

    What is the dress code?

Leave your suit and cocktail dress at home because there’s no formal attire needed on this cruise! Throughout the day, feel free to wear a sundress, bathing suit, shorts, etc. For dinner, men will need a pair of dress pants and a collared shirt and women will need an informal dress or pair of pants. There is one Captain’s dinner on each cruise where people dress up a little more, but there are no black-tie events or formal nights.

I have some mobility issues.  Will I be able to navigate the ship OK?

There are no elevators on the ship so guests must be able to ambulate up and down narrow staircases and around some obstacles on the upper deck like ropes and cleats. When arriving in some ports, you may be required to take a tender boat into shore, which may indicate a wet landing. You must feel comfortable transferring from the ship into a smaller boat.

I follow a specific diet.  Will the staff be able to prepare foods I can eat?

The ship maintains a very small galley and limited number of kitchen staff. While they do their best to accommodate everyone’s needs, not all dietary preparations are possible. It’s best to inquire directly before booking if you have concerns or a serious allergy.

    Is there a solo rate?

Single cabins are on request only in categories 2-6, with a 50% supplement.

    Can my kids join me?

Sure (just as long as they're at least 6 mo of age)! We've had many kids join us in the past. Please just be aware that there aren't any formal activities for kids, no kids clubs, and no structured supervision for young children, and the rate is the same for children or adults. Children under the age of 18 are not permitted to be assigned to a room on their own, and there are no adjoining cabins on this vessel.

    Is Wi-fi available onboard?

Internet & Wi-Fi is available onboard wherever technically possible. Wi-Fi access is available in certain areas of the ship and available on computers in the library. Internet and Wi-Fi access can be purchased via cards sold in the Sloop Shop.

What is there to do during the days at sea?

Every morning, the Captain or Cruise Director will talk about sailing-related topics at an informal gathering on deck, including the wind, tall ships, navigation, the stars. The crew offer knot-tying lessons, a chance to raise the sails and, weather permitting, mast-climbing to the first crow’s nest. Each ship has a well-stocked library, beauty and massage treatments and plenty of deck space for sunbathing and watching the crew at work. Once on each cruise, weather permitting, there is a photo tender. All the sails are raised and guests can photograph the ship in all its glory from the tender boats. Each ship also has an open bridge policy so you are also free to come and talk to the officers and Captain. You can also choose to relax on deck and enjoy one of the swimming pools onboard.

Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages onboard the ship. Any alcohol purchased in ports of call will be retained and returned at the end of the voyage.
