Join Adventurously Yours for a 7-day ecological escape to Mexico's Monarch Butterfly sanctuary, where millions of butterflies complete their 4,200 km journey from the United States and Canada to the sacred fir forests of the Mexican highlands.

We will travel with expert naturalist guides deep into the Piedra Herrada Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary, one of the most important reserves in the world, where the forest quite literally comes alive with cascading wings of orange and black. It is quiet, powerful, and deeply moving in a way that words never fully capture.

Based in the charming colonial "Magic Town" of Valle de Bravo, we will experience multiple sanctuary visits, allowing us to witness the butterflies in shifting light and changing conditions — with each visit revealing something new, something more intimate, something unforgettable.

We will also explore Mexico City's cultural landmarks and ancient heritage, balancing wild natural beauty with meaningful history, while directly supporting local conservation and the communities who protect this fragile ecosystem.

This women-only departure is designed as a soulful reset to begin the year: slow travel, shared discovery, and the kind of moments that stay with you long after you return home.

Day 1 – January 23 | Arrival in Mexico City
Arrive and be welcomed by your expert naturalist guide. Receive an introduction to the journey including insights into the Monarch Butterfly experience, seasonal conditions, and important guidance for the days ahead before transferring to your hotel.

Day 2 – January 24 | Mexico City Cultural Discovery & Valle de Bravo
Begin the day with a guided visit to the National Museum of Anthropology, home to one of the world's most important archaeological collections, including the iconic Aztec Sunstone. Then depart for the charming mountain town of Valle de Bravo — known for its lakeside setting, boutique atmosphere, equestrian culture, and vibrant culinary scene.

Day 3 – January 25 | Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary Experience
Journey into the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere region and the high-altitude forests of Nevado de Toluca. Hike or ride horseback with local expert guides into the oyamel forests where millions of monarch butterflies gather each winter. Walk approximately 40 minutes through peaceful valleys and forest trails to reach the sanctuary, where the trees come alive with fluttering wings.

Day 4 – January 26 | Second Monarch Sanctuary Exploration
Visit a second, more remote Monarch Butterfly sanctuary for an even deeper ecological immersion. Explore dramatic coniferous forests and the expansive landscape known as Los Tres Gobernadores, where the butterflies cluster in vast colonies. Hike up to 4 km through changing terrain before returning to Valle de Bravo.

Day 5 – January 27 | Leisure Day in Valle de Bravo
Enjoy a relaxed day entirely at your own pace. Unwind by the lake, explore boutique shops, indulge in spa treatments, or savor the cafés and restaurants that give this magical town its effortless charm.

Day 6 – January 28 | Return to Mexico City & City Tour
Depart Valle de Bravo and return to Mexico City. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided city tour highlighting key cultural and historic sites.

Day 7 – January 29 | Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flights home.
