Monkey Bikes & Bad Ideas

Monkey Bikes & Bad Decisions

14 days | Multiple departures | Peru or Morocco | From $5,500 CAD/person

What to Expect

A custom-built adventure anchored by the Monkey Run — one week crossing big terrain on a tiny bike with a deeply optimistic relationship to horsepower.

We build the smarter bits around the chaos: flights, arrival timing, pre-run prep, post-run recovery, and the logistics that get you to and from the ridiculous part.

The goal is the story.

The Vibe

Tiny bikes. Big terrain. Loose routes. Questionable decisions.

In Peru, that might mean mountain passes, jungle edges, dirt roads and river crossings.

In Morocco, think desert tracks, rugged backroads, mountain routes and “are we sure this is a road?” energy.

The exact route, where you sleep and how lost you get?

Entirely up to you.

This is not where you go to come home rested and sensible.

The Trip Rhythm

LAND. SETTLE. QUESTION YOUR CHOICES.

Arrive early enough to shake off the travel fog, meet the crew, sort your gear and have at least one proper meal before making tiny-bike-related life choices.

MEET YOUR TINY CHARIOT.

Pre-adventure beers.

Transfer to start camp.

Test drive.

Mechanical optimism.

Launch party.

Figure out how your bike works.

Or don't.

DO THE RIDICULOUS THING.

One week.

One tiny bike.

A very loose sense of direction.

Dirt roads. Mountain passes. Desert tracks or jungle edges. Wrong turns. Snack stops. Roadside chaos.

What happens between the start and finish line is largely your problem.

As it should be.

SURVIVE. CELEBRATE. RECOVER.

Cross the finish line.

Swap stories.

Question several decisions.

Then we add the smarter pieces: a proper bed, good food, lighter pacing and enough time for everyone's knees, nerves and dignity to attempt a comeback.

Before you pack your emotional-support knee brace: starting pricing is for inspiration and planning purposes and is based on double occupancy, estimated Monkey Run entry fees, flights, accommodations, transfers and select trip components.

Actual pricing depends on departure city, run fees, exchange rates, travel dates, number of travellers and how fancy or feral we make the beginning and end.

We Handle the Smart Stuff

  • Suggested international flight routing
  • Monkey Run registration coordination
  • Arrival and departure timing
  • Pre-run accommodations

The Adventurists

This adventure is built around the Monkey Run Peru or Monkey Run Morocco operated by The Adventurists.

They turn travel into a story before you even leave.

Tiny vehicles. Loose routes. Big landscapes. Questionable decisions.

Very much our kind of nonsense.

For current Monkey Run details, dates and official event inclusions, visit The Adventurists directly.

This One Is for Travellers Who Like

  • Properly weird adventure travel
  • Big landscapes and bad ideas
  • Dirt roads, wrong turns and route chaos
  • Friends who enable questionable decisions
  • Scrappy, story-heavy travel

The kind of trip that comes with better stories than souvenirs.

Trip Pace

Active. Rugged. Unpredictable.

Expect rough roads, uneven terrain, long days, physical fatigue and conditions that can change quickly.

This is not a soft adventure.

You should be comfortable with discomfort, uncertainty and the reality that a tiny bike crossing very large terrain is an objectively questionable combination.

We make the beginning and end smarter.

The middle is the Monkey Run.
