FAQs
What are the main highlights of this trip?
Revel in one of the biggest parties on earth, Witness the spectacular scenery of Rio, Experience the craziness of the Sambadrome, Relax knowing you have fantastic Chief Experience Officers (CEOs) taking care of all the details
There is a certain amount of flexibility built into the itinerary and on occasion it may be necessary, or desirable to make alterations. The itinerary is brief, as we never know exactly where our journey will take us. Additionally, any travel times listed are approximations only and subject to vary due to local circumstances.
What is the group leader like?
Group trips are accompanied by an expert guide (CEO). The aim of the CEO is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. They will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues and introduce you to our local friends. While not being guides in the traditional sense you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the countries visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious and social aspects. We also use local guides where we think more specific knowledge will add to the enjoyment of the places we are visiting- we think it's the best of both worlds.
How large will the group be?
Your small group will be 16 people. G party will have around 100+ like-minded travelers.
What meals are included in this trip?
Breakfast is included each day.
When there is a choice of eating options, small groups tend to eat together to enable you to taste a larger variety of dishes and enjoy each other's company. There is no obligation to do this though. Your CEO will be able to suggest favourite restaurants during your trip. You will have the maximum flexibility in deciding where, what and with whom to eat with budgeting flexibility, though generally food is low cost in Rio.
What transportation will we take on this trip?
Public bus, private van, taxi, subway. The group will be given subway/public transportation passes to use to attend various street festivities on days 3, 4, and 5 of this particular itinerary with your CEO.
Is there an extra cost for traveling solo?
This group trip is designed for shared accommodation and does not involve a single supplement. Single travelers joining group trips are paired in twin or multi-share accommodation. Please let Atlas First know if you require a private room.
Where will we stay during the trip?
Accommodations are at the Royalty Rio Hotel in the Copacabana neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk from the famous Copacabana Beach and at the center of the Carnival action. The hotel has a rooftop pool and sauna, work out room, restaurant and breakfast bar (included each day) for a comfortable and clean home base during the Carnival festivities.
Rooms are all double occupancy with either 1 or 2 bed configurations. What should I take on my trip?
We recommend using a backpack for your convenience, or a medium-sized suitcase if you prefer. A daypack is also essential for carrying everyday items. Space is limited on transportation, so there is a limit of one main piece of luggage per person. You will be responsible for carrying your own luggage.
What the visas and entry requirements for my trip?
All countries require a valid passport (with a minimum 6 months validity).
An eVisa is required for American citizens entering Brazil.
What activities are optional on this trip?
Rio de Janeiro
- Rio Football Game (500BRL per person)
- Favela Tour (187BRL per person)Is travel insurance required for my trip?
Travel insurance is compulsory in order to participate on any of our trips. Evidence of medical expenses including emergency evacuation and repatriation of at least $200,000 is required. Atlas First Travel will offer an affordable option through Allianz. You can also show proof of coverage from another 3rd party insurance company or credit card.
We strongly recommend that the policy also covers personal liability, cancellation, curtailment and loss of luggage and personal effects. If you have credit card insurance we require proof of purchase of the trip (a receipt of credit card statement) with a credit card in your name. Contact your bank for details of their participating insurer, the level of coverage and emergency contact telephone number.
