Small Group Trip with Mark to Bhutan October 2027 including the Teshechu Festival in Gangtey
Oct 11 - 20, 2027
Bhutan doesn't reveal itself quickly. It asks something of you — a willingness to slow down, look closely, and travel with genuine intention. In return, it offers something rare: a country where ancient culture is not a backdrop but a living, breathing reality, where the mountains are sacred, and where happiness is taken seriously as a measure of national success.
This ten-night journey is timed around the Tsechu Festival in Gangtey — one of Bhutan's most extraordinary cultural celebrations, a centuries-old gathering of masked dances, monastic rituals, and community devotion that few visitors ever witness. We will be there for it.
What to expect
- The Tsechu Festival in Gangtey — a rare window into Bhutan's living spiritual traditions, experienced with a small, unhurried group
- A deliberate journey through four of the kingdom's most distinct landscapes: the Paro Valley, the high-altitude Gangtey plateau, the lush Punakha Valley, and back to Paro's ancient heart
- Accommodations chosen for their sense of place — including Taj Gangtey Resort & Spa, COMO Uma Punakha, and Taj Paro Resort & Spa
- Guided by a trusted local team and accompanied throughout by Mark — with the full support of Mando Travel's Air Desk before and during the trip
- No more than ten guests — intimate by design, never by accident

Old Town Bangkok
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, DinnerOld Town Walking Tour (with transfers and a very special lunch)
Bangkok's old town is a rare thing — a historic neighborhood that somehow escaped the high-rises. Its oldest lanes were shaped by Chinese merchant families who built shophouses with the shop below and the family living above, and the area remains home to the Grand Palace and several buildings still in use as government ministries today. Your guide will lead you through narrow alleys, past the flower market, and to a street food lunch prepared by an 80-year-old chef who once cooked for the palace. The tour ends with a drink and a spectacular view.Temple Blessing
Thailand's spiritual life runs deeper than most visitors expect. Along today's route, a monk will offer you a personal blessing in a beautiful temple — flowers and offerings arranged on your behalf.Tuk Tuk Food Tour
Your private guide and tuk tuk driver will take you into a local neighborhood to discover some of Bangkok's best street food — at least four stops, partly on foot and partly by tuk tuk. A delicious way to end the day.Optional add-on — $70 per person: Guided afternoon visit to the Grand Palace and Museum Siam, including the dazzling temples built for the King of Siam. (The Grand Palace can also be visited independently at your own pace.)
Overnight: Riva Surya Hotel, Deluxe Riva Room
Day 3 · Sunday, October 10

Meals: BreakfastA Walk of Five Generations
Cross to the west bank of the Chao Phraya River and step into a Bangkok that doesn't exist on the internet — only in the memories of the people who live here. This walk follows the story of a Thai aristocratic family who has called the Thonburi neighborhood home for five generations, revealing hidden temples, untold histories, and communities of different beliefs and ethnicities tucked into the city's folds. Your guide will use local public transportation to move through the area as residents do.Afternoon: Transfer to the airport hotel
