A Thoughtfully Curated Copenhagen Escape
Apr 4 - 8, 2027
A City That Has Been Waiting For Me To Return
April 4–8, 2027
I spent part of my junior year of college living in Copenhagen.
That was more than 50 years ago.
Life happened. Careers happened. Family happened. And somehow, despite traveling all over the world, I never made it back.
Until now.
This trip is, in part, my chance to return to a city that shaped me during one of the most exciting periods of my life. And I can't think of a better group of women to share that experience with.
Yes, we'll see the beautiful harbors, castles, palaces, and iconic sights.
But this trip isn't really about checking Copenhagen off a list.
It's about slowing down long enough to experience a city rather than simply visit it.
It's about wandering charming streets, lingering over coffee, sharing stories over dinner, and discovering why Denmark is consistently ranked among the happiest countries in the world.
And perhaps most importantly, it's about doing it together.
Many women tell me they'd love to visit places like Copenhagen, but they don't want to navigate a foreign city alone. They don't want to worry about logistics, transportation, or sitting by themselves at dinner every night.
That's exactly why I created Golden Girls Getaways.
You get the freedom of independent travel with the comfort of having a welcoming group around you.
Plenty of time to explore.
Plenty of flexibility.
And plenty of women to share the experience with whenever you'd like.
Most of our travelers arrive knowing no one. By the end of the trip, they're exchanging phone numbers, sharing photos, and planning where they want to travel next.
The city may be what brings us to Copenhagen.
But if past trips are any indication, the friendships may be what you remember most.
You can join this as a stand-alone escape, or as a seamless extension after our Bruges and Amsterdam river cruise, or as a pre-cruise extension to our Norwegian Fjords cruise.
Either way, I can’t wait to share my Copenhagen with you.

Where We’ll Stay
Admiral Hotel – Copenhagen
I spent a lot of time looking at hotels before choosing this one.
Location matters in a city like Copenhagen, and the Admiral Hotel puts us exactly where we want to be.
Set right on the waterfront in a beautifully restored historic warehouse dating back to the 1700s, the hotel combines Danish history with the clean, comfortable Scandinavian style Copenhagen is known for today.
From the moment you step outside, you're in the heart of the city. Nyhavn's colorful harbor, royal palaces, waterfront promenades, cafés, restaurants, and many of Copenhagen's most iconic sights are all within easy walking distance.
The hotel itself feels warm and welcoming rather than formal or flashy. Original wooden beams, waterfront views, and thoughtfully designed rooms create the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring.
One of the things I love most about this hotel is how easy it makes everything. Want to take an early morning walk along the harbor? You're already there. Feel like meeting a few of the ladies for a glass of wine before dinner? The waterfront is right outside the door. Want to wander through the city for an hour and then return to rest before heading out again? It's all incredibly convenient.
This isn't just a place to sleep. It's a place to settle in, unpack once, and feel at home in Copenhagen for a few wonderful days.

Price (for Copenhagen alone)
- Single Room: $4,968
- Double Room: $3,990 per person
What We'll Experience Together
One of the things I love most about Copenhagen is that it offers so many different sides of Denmark in such a compact, easy-to-enjoy city.
Over our four days together, we'll experience a wonderful blend of history, culture, food, scenery, and the simple pleasure of being in one of Europe's most livable cities.
We'll spend time exploring the city itself, wandering elegant streets lined with colorful buildings, charming cafés, beautiful public squares, and the waterfront areas that give Copenhagen so much of its character. There will be opportunities to stroll through the famous Nyhavn harbor, browse local shops, people-watch from a café, and simply enjoy the relaxed rhythm of Danish life.
We'll venture beyond the city for a memorable day through the Danish countryside, where fairy-tale castles, coastal villages, and centuries of history await. We'll visit magnificent Frederiksborg Castle, one of Scandinavia's most spectacular Renaissance palaces, surrounded by beautiful gardens and a peaceful lake. We'll also visit Kronborg Castle, known around the world as Hamlet's Castle, perched dramatically along the sea and filled with fascinating stories of kings, queens, and Shakespearean legend.
Food is an important part of understanding any culture, and Denmark is no exception. We'll enjoy a hands-on smørrebrød experience where we'll learn the art of creating Denmark's famous open-faced sandwiches before sitting down to enjoy our creations together with local beer and aquavit. It's a fun, delicious, and uniquely Danish experience that goes far beyond simply eating lunch.
No visit to Copenhagen would be complete without time at Tivoli Gardens. Part amusement park, part garden, part cultural icon, Tivoli is one of the most beloved places in Denmark. The gardens, historic architecture, lights, music, and atmosphere create a sense of magic that is difficult to describe until you've experienced it yourself. It's easy to understand why Walt Disney found inspiration here when creating Disneyland.
And perhaps just as important as the planned experiences will be the unplanned moments.
A leisurely breakfast overlooking the waterfront.
A spontaneous stop for coffee and pastries.
An afternoon stroll through Nyhavn with new friends.
A glass of wine while watching the boats drift through the harbor.
And, if tradition holds, perhaps a chance to sample Denmark's famous Easter beer, a seasonal brew that appears for only a few weeks each spring. Believe it or not, it's something I still remember from my time living in Copenhagen more than 50 years ago. I've often wondered if it's every bit as good as I remember, and I'm looking forward to finding out.
These are often the moments travelers remember long after they return home.
Copenhagen is a city best enjoyed rather than rushed, and that's exactly how we've designed this escape.

Many of the women who travel with Golden Girls Getaways come on their own. You will never be the only one.
One of my favorite things about these trips is watching friendships form. Whether it's sharing a meal, strolling through Nyhavn, discovering a favorite café, or enjoying a glass of wine together after a day of sightseeing, there's almost always someone ready to join you.
Women often arrive as solo travelers and leave as friends. In fact, many end up traveling together again.
If that sounds appealing to you, I think you'll love Copenhagen.

A Few Perfect Days in Copenhagen…
There are some cities you visit… and others you fall into effortlessly.
Copenhagen is the second kind.
This is a place where everything just works—beautifully. Colorful harbors, walkable streets, storybook castles, and a food scene that’s quietly one of the best in Europe.
This Golden Girls getaway is designed as:
- a perfect post-cruise extension after the Bruges river cruise
or - a stand-alone, slow-paced European city escape or
- a perfect pre-cruise extension to our Norwegian Fjords cruise
No rushing. No overpacking your days. Just enough structure to see the best of Copenhagen—with plenty of time to enjoy it.
Final Thoughts
I'm so excited about this trip for many reasons. Copenhagen is a city that has held a special place in my heart for more than 50 years, and I can't wait to experience it again.
But what excites me most is sharing it with a wonderful group of women.
The city is beautiful. The food is wonderful. The atmosphere is unforgettable.
And if my previous trips are any indication, we'll leave with memories of both the places we visited and the friendships we made along the way.
