Lower Danube Group River Cruise with AmaWaterways
Apr 16 - 28, 2027
Take part in a magical river cruise where you will touch history in Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Romania, as you sail along the exotic lower Danube. Celtic fortifications, medieval towns and grand cities, along with the natural beauty of pastoral landscapes and the Danube’s famed Iron Gates, showcase the best of eastern Europe. Nature lovers will relish the opportunity to bike through Belgrade’s sprawling Kalemegdan Park. Wine connoisseurs will have a chance to taste history from the centuries-old wine-growing hills dating back to the Romans in Croatia. Be treated to the flavors, sights, sounds, and cultures of this diverse swath of the continent.
We will fly into Bucharest a day early, before embarking in Giurgiu, Romania. Consider adding a post-cruise stay in Budapest. I highly recommend it if you have not been to Budapest; it is a fascinating city with well over 800 years of history.
We will ride bikes, sample Serbian brandy, take in a museum or two (Nikoli Tesla Museum is an option), and enjoy getting to know each other. All meals are included. As members of the prestigious La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs culinary society and Tables et Auberges de France, Ama ensures they are providing high-quality food and wine on board; it is of utmost importance to them. You do not want to miss the Chef's Table, an AmaWaterways exclusive. The Chef’s Table features a true tasting menu with three appetizers, a champagne sorbet intermezzo, three main courses, and three decadent desserts – serving up a variety of regional specialties and traditional dishes with more choices and flavors than ever before. At the Chef’s Table - which seats 28 guests per evening - a demonstration kitchen is part of the entertainment as passengers can watch the chef prepare an exquisite multi-course dinner. Each course is paired perfectly with a hand-selected regional wine. This is included in your cruise fare.
