LET'S GO TECH!

Join your Clarkson friends and fellow alumni for a weeklong trip to the Caribbean! Departing from Fort Lauderdale, visit the Dominican Republic, the US Virgin Islands, and Saint Kitts on a seven day voyage aboard Celebrity Beyond. We all spent so much time battling the cold weather of Potsdam, so you DESERVE this vacation to reminisce and tell stories about your days on campus. Whether you took classes in Old Maine, CAMP, or either of the Snell buildings, you'll be among friends on the Clarkson Golden Knights of the Caribbean Cruise!

Those ships launched in 2012 and 2018 respectively. Celebrity Beyond launched in 2022. Beyond will have all the best areas you've come to love (Martini Bar, Cafe el Bacio, etc), and Beyond will have some new spaces like Eden which has multiple story floor to ceiling windows for optimal ocean viewing.

If you’ve previously been to Puerto Plata, know that the country has done extensive work to prioritize cruise tourism. In that way, Puerto Plata has had a Glow Up! Taino Bay (where Celebrity docks) is right in the city, so you’re walkable to many things including a lazy river with palm trees overhead, music playing in the background, and rum flowing from nearby bars.

4.jpg

In St. Thomas, Magens Bay is about 15 minutes from the Cruise Terminal and is consistently ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world. If you don't want to go to the beach, there are dozens of excursions to choose from or you can do some duty free shopping at a rare port that doesn't require a passport (St. Thomas is part of the US Virgin Islands).

Now if those two ports leave you thinking that your vacation is sounding a bit too busy, that’s why we have the very laid back Basseterre (St. Kitts) on the agenda. We’ll still dock in town, but everything is less polished and less commercialized. You’ll get local music and street vendors with the authentic Caribbean Energy. Take the Scenic Railway, take photos of the Green Vervet Monkeys, or find a beach.

The Best Sea Days

This sailing has a total of three days at sea, which really give all of us time to spend getting to know each other. Try your luck at the casinos, have an elongated brunch at one of the specialty dining venues, or just find a quiet place to relax with a book. No matter how you choose to spend your day at sea, I promise you won't be bored.

  • About the Celebrity Beyond

"Welcome to a place where you can experience all the things you’ve been missing for so long. Only now, those things are even better than you’ve imagined. This is a place where the possibilities are as endless as the views. where you can disconnect entirely while you reconnect with each other-and the world. This place is Celebrity Beyond℠."

Celebrity Cruise Lines is a premium cruise line, which means you'll experience elevated amenities, spaces, and comfort. The brand message from Celebrity is that "Nothing Comes Close to Celebrity." Step onboard the Celebrity Beyond for this cruise and you'll understand exactly why they can get away with such a bold claim. Celebrity has a variety of elevated dining options, elegant communal spaces, and world class innovations like the ability to play Pickleball at Sea.

The Magic Carpet floats over the ocean rising like an elevator on the side of the ship for a unique bar or restaurant depending on the time of day. On past cruises, Clarkson Alumni could be found grabbing a drink before dinner at the world famous Martini Bar where they don't settle for just the classic James Bond style martini. Instead they have an elaborate menu of a dozen options that include a martini for every taste including the super trendy Espresso Martini. Another famous concept is the Cafe al Bacio where you'll find Clarkson alumni getting super charged on caffeine after a long evening spent at the aforementioned martini bar.

  • What Past Clarkson Cruisers Have Said About Sailing with Clarkson Alumni!

"It was phenomenal. It's the kind of experience that I didn't think I'd really ever do, but very happy I did and I can't wait till the next one."

    - Mike Hayduk ’17

“Man, it's been great. We got to hang out and meet people on the dance floors at the bars. Trivia, all sorts of stuff. So I think just that camaraderie of being together here as Golden Knights is kind of the cool part for us.”

    - Jim Delaney ’95

“ It's been really fun, especially having a big group of people that I have stuff in common with.”

    - Evan Murray ’17

“It's been fabulous. I was pretty nervous coming in about being bored a lot of the time, but it's been nice knowing other people and having that connection to engage with during meals and on  excursions and things like that.”

    - Malcolm Lundy ’13

“ We've had so much fun, and all the islands were great. The ship is amazing, so it's been great.”

    - Gina Hayduk ’91

“It was amazing. I am already booked for next year because it was so much fun.”

    - Kim Brown ’08

"One of the best parts about sailing in a group like this is having a ton of built in friends to enjoy the time. Whether it's getting together for trivia or having a drink at the martini bar, there's always another Clarkson person around.
