Targeted Dates for this Itinerary
Late spring through fall options
The best times to visit the Finger Lakes, New York, are late spring (mid-May to early June) and early fall (September to mid-October). These shoulder seasons offer mild weather (50s–70s°F), perfect for wine tasting along the Seneca or Keuka Lake wine trails, hiking gentle trails like those in Watkins Glen State Park, or enjoying boat tours on the lakes. Spring brings blooming orchards and quieter vineyards, while fall showcases vibrant foliage and harvest festivals, such as the Naples Grape Festival, with fewer crowds than summer. Summer (July–August) is vibrant with warm weather (70s–80s°F) and events like the Finger Lakes Wine Festival, but it’s peak season, so expect busier attractions and higher prices.
