Best of Romania, Transylvania & Hungary: A Gothic Fantasy Group Journey

Oct 16 - 24, 2027

Dracula's castle. Medieval fortresses. Cobblestoned towns frozen in time. Carpathian forests shrouded in mist. If you've ever dreamed of stepping into a gothic fantasy story, not reading one, not watching one, but actually standing inside one, this is the trip.

I'm Rocky Dimico, owner of Flights & Fables and a Certified Travel Advisor with a specialty in fantasy-inspired travel. In October 2027, I'm personally leading a small group of 12 through the heart of Romania, Transylvania, and Hungary on Trafalgar's Best of Romania, Transylvania & Hungary tour. This isn't just any group trip. It's a curated experience designed for people who see travel the way I do, as a story worth living.

We begin in Bucharest, Romania's grand capital with its Belle Époque boulevards and communist-era palace, a city that carries centuries of drama in its architecture. From there we wind through the Carpathian Mountains to Sinaia and the fairy-tale Peleș Castle, before arriving at Bran Castle, the fortress that gave the world its most enduring vampire legend. We'll walk the medieval streets of Brașov and the UNESCO-listed hilltop town of Sighișoara, the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler himself. Gothic architecture lovers, history nerds, and vampire enthusiasts alike will find something that sends a chill down their spine at every turn.

We continue to Corvin Castle, one of the most stunning Gothic fortresses in all of Europe, before crossing into Hungary for a taste of the Great Hungarian Plain and a grand finale in Budapest, one of the most breathtaking cities in the world. Heroes' Square, Matthias Church, the Fisherman's Bastion, and a farewell dinner with your fellow travelers to close out an unforgettable 9 days.

This trip is for the travelers who want a little darkness with their beauty. The ones who feel most at home in candlelit stone corridors and mist-covered valleys. The ones who've always wanted to visit Dracula's homeland, and mean it.
