Thank you for allowing me to assist with your travel arrangements. Now the countdown to your trip begins.
Before you know it, you’ll have your feet in the sand and a tropical drink in hand.
To help you prepare, I’ve included important information below. Please review this “Know Before You Go” document in its entirety to avoid any last-minute questions or confusion.
Documents / Vouchers – Please bring all travel documents provided, including this “Know Before You Go” guide, so you can reference it during your trip. I recommend keeping these with your passport prior to departure.
There are no paper vouchers or airline tickets. All services are handled electronically at the airline counter, arrival lounge, and resort check-in.
Any special requests, occasions, or celebrations have been noted.
Passports – Ensure your passport is packed prior to travel to avoid any last-minute issues.
Your passport must be valid, undamaged, and readable. Passport booklets are required for all international air travel—passport cards are not accepted.
Travelers must also comply with the Passport Validity Rule: your passport must be valid for at least six (6) months beyond your travel dates. If your passport does not meet this requirement, please contact me as soon as possible.
TropiGal Travel is not responsible for passport validity or compliance.
For more information on obtaining or renewing a passport, visit:
https://travel.state.gov/content/passports/en/passports.html
Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) – I recommend enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), a free service that allows U.S. citizens and nationals traveling abroad to register their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate.
Benefits include:

Airline – Check your flight status with the airline the day before departure to confirm there have been no schedule changes.
Online check-in typically opens 24 hours prior to departure. Have your passport and airline confirmation number ready, then visit your airline’s website or app to check in. If seats have not already been assigned (or changes are needed), you may select or update them at that time.
Southwest Airlines: Boarding and seating procedures may vary. In most cases, boarding groups are assigned at check-in—the earlier you check in, the better your boarding position. Please review your reservation directly with the airline for the most up-to-date details.
For automatic check-in and an improved boarding position, EarlyBird Check-In may be available for purchase (additional fees apply).
Additional airline fees (such as baggage) may apply and are not always included in your original airfare. For details on baggage policies and fees, visit:
www.Sandals.com/baggage
If applicable, baggage can be purchased during online check-in (sometimes at a reduced rate) or at the airport.
Tip: Some airlines offer discounted upgrades to premium cabins during online check-in. For the best availability, log in as soon as check-in opens.
Mobile Passport Control – The Mobile Passport Control app can help expedite your entry through U.S. Customs and Border Protection at select airports and cruise ports. This app is officially authorized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Note: Not all airports participate. Please check availability prior to travel.
Step 1: Set Up Your Profile
Enter your information exactly as it appears on your valid passport. You may also create profiles for family members traveling with you. Information is encrypted and securely shared with CBP.
Step 2: Answer Trip Questions
Complete the brief set of questions about your trip and review all information carefully before submitting.
Step 3: Submit to CBP
Upon arrival at your port of entry (airport or seaport), connect to Wi-Fi or cellular service and submit your information. After submission, you will receive a digital receipt with an encrypted barcode, valid for four (4) hours.
Step 4: Proceed Through Customs
Follow signage for the Mobile Passport Control line. Present your passport to the CBP officer and scan your barcode for processing.
Departing – Plan to arrive at the airport at least three (3) hours prior to departure. Allow additional time for potential delays such as traffic, airline check-in, and security lines.
TSA Regulations - Please follow the TSA 3-1-1 rule for carry-on luggage: liquids must be in containers no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 ml) and placed in a single, clear, one (1) quart-sized bag.
Mini bottles of alcohol are permitted through security; however, they may not be consumed onboard. Federal regulations prohibit the consumption of personal alcohol on an aircraft unless it is served by the airline.
For additional information and updates, visit:
http://www.tsa.gov/
Luggage Tags – Ensure your luggage is labeled with your home address and the name of your hotel.
For easy identification, consider adding a ribbon or other distinctive marker to your suitcase.
Before leaving baggage claim, confirm that all luggage tags match your destination.
Resort Contact Information – If you need to share resort contact details with friends or family, please use the following link:
http://www.sandals.com/contact/contact-resorts/
Check-In / Check-Out – Sandals Resorts offers online check-in prior to arrival to help expedite the check-in process and reduce paperwork. You may complete this at www.Sandals.com/extras between 14 and 4 days prior to arrival.
If you are unable to check in online, the resort staff will assist you upon arrival.
A credit card authorization (typically $400 USD) will be required at check-in for incidentals or on-resort purchases. This is standard practice; if unused, the hold will be released.
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM (earlier if your room is available and has been prepared).
Tip: If you arrive early, pack your swimsuit in your carry-on. You may change at the spa and begin enjoying the pool or beach while your room is being prepared.
Check-out is at 11:00 AM. I recommend settling any outstanding charges the evening prior to departure.
On departure day, place your locked luggage outside your room as instructed. A bell attendant will transfer it to the lobby.
Tip: For later departures, you may continue to enjoy the resort amenities and use the spa facilities to shower before leaving.
Island Arrival & Transfers – Most destinations require completion of an Immigration and Customs form prior to arrival.
Many destinations now offer electronic forms that must be completed online before travel. A valid email address is required, as your receipt (QR code or confirmation number) will be sent electronically. Please save a copy to your mobile device or print it to present upon arrival. Completing forms in advance helps expedite the arrival process.
Destination-Specific Requirements:
Arrival Process:
Upon arrival, follow signs for Immigration. Have your passport and any required documents ready.
After clearing Immigration, proceed to baggage claim to collect your luggage (if applicable), then continue through Customs.
Once you exit Customs:
A team member will verify your name, tag your luggage, and escort you to your transfer.
Important: Keep your passport, wallet, and personal items with you at all times.
Tipping Policies – Sandals Resorts maintains a strict no-tipping policy for most staff. Gratuities are included in your stay, and team members such as wait staff, bartenders, housekeeping, front desk, and concierge are not permitted to accept tips.
There are a few exceptions:
Safes – Please use the in-room safe to store valuables, including jewelry, passports, electronics, cash, and other important items.
While incidents are uncommon, it is always best practice to secure valuables when not in use.
TropiGal Travel is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Safety – Avoid carrying expensive jewelry or large amounts of cash in public. When leaving your room, ensure all valuables are secured in the in-room safe.
To lock the safe, press and hold the “LOCK” button, then confirm it is properly secured before exiting your room.
Leaving valuables unsecured or in an unlocked safe presents a risk in any destination.
Money / Cash / Credit Cards – The resort will place a credit card authorization (typically a few hundred dollars) on file at check-in for incidentals. This allows you to charge items such as spa services or gift shop purchases to your room. If unused, the hold will be released.
I recommend using a credit card rather than a debit card, as authorization holds may take up to 7 business days to clear from your account.
U.S. currency is widely accepted, and exchanging money is not necessary. While ATMs are available on property, fees may apply and funds will be dispensed in local currency.
Please note:
Bring an appropriate amount of cash based on your plans (shopping, excursions, etc.). It is recommended to have small bills on hand, including $1 bills for tips and minor purchases. You may also wish to keep a small reserve (approximately $100–$200) secured in your room safe.
Tip: If you plan to use a credit or debit card, consider notifying your bank prior to travel to avoid potential holds or declined transactions due to international activity.
Electricity – The Bahamas and Jamaica use the same voltage and plug type as the United States (110/120V), so no converter is needed.
At other Sandals Resorts locations, U.S.-style outlets may be limited (typically one in the bathroom and one near the bedside). You may wish to bring a power strip or adapter to accommodate multiple devices.
Dress Code – Sandals Resorts enforces dress codes at select restaurants. Specific requirements are listed in your room or within the resort app. If the dress code is not followed (for example, closed-toe shoes may be required for men), you may be asked to change before dining. Please pack accordingly.
Resort Casual Attire
Shorts or jeans with t-shirts or polo shirts. Swimwear must be covered. Shirts and footwear are required.
Resort Evening Attire
Dress pants or jeans for men, paired with a collared or non-collared dress shirt. Dress shoes or elegant sandals are required. Shorts, t-shirts, sleeveless shirts, and sneakers are not permitted.
Entertainment & Theme Nights – Sandals Resorts offers a daily schedule of entertainment and activities, which is posted throughout the resort and delivered to your room each evening.
Be sure to check the schedule so you don’t miss popular events such as beach parties and themed buffets. You may also want to pack white attire for the resort’s “White Night.”
Tip: Sandals Select Rewards members should remember to RSVP for the returning guest dinner.
Add-Ons – I can assist with reserving resort add-ons such as candlelight dinners, tours, excursions, and spa treatments prior to arrival.
Pre-booking is recommended to secure your preferred dates and times. You may also choose to pre-pay, which can help minimize any balance due at check-out.
All add-ons can also be viewed and reserved at:
www.Sandals.com/extras
Tip: Consider scheduling spa treatments earlier in your stay. Sun exposure may make massages uncomfortable later in your trip.
EPIX Photography – Sandals Resorts offers professional photography services throughout the resort to capture your vacation memories.
There is no cost to have photos taken. Photographers will request your room number so your images can be linked to your account and viewed in the EPIX photo gallery during your stay.
You may also schedule a complimentary 30-minute photo session in the gardens or on the beach at sunset—an excellent opportunity for couples or family photos.
If you choose to purchase photos, both print and digital options are available, along with discounted photo packages. Returning Sandals and Beaches guests receive a 10% discount at the photo shop.
Tip: Review your photos throughout your stay rather than waiting until the end. This helps avoid a last-minute rush and makes it easier to select your favorites.
Sandals Select Rewards Program – Sandals Resorts offers a loyalty program for returning guests of Sandals and Beaches resorts.
If you are not already enrolled, you may consider joining the Sandals Select Rewards Program to earn points and receive additional benefits during your stay and on future visits.
Enroll here:
https://www.sandalsselect.com/enrollment/
Sandals & Beaches App – Sandals & Beaches App provides convenient access to your reservation details and resort features before and during your stay.
With the app, you can manage your upcoming trip, view booking information, reserve select add-ons, and complete pre-arrival check-in. While on property, the app can be used to view the resort map, check daily activities, review dining options, manage butler preferences (if applicable), and access your account details.
Dining Reservations: One (1) pre-arrival dining reservation may be available up to two (2) weeks prior to arrival for your resort. Additional reservations are made once on property.
Additional features include:
GINA (Guest Information & Assistance) – Sandals Resorts offers a virtual assistant to assist with guest needs during your stay.
If anything requires attention during your vacation, it is best to notify the resort while you are on property so it can be addressed promptly.
The fastest way to connect is through GINA. Upon arrival, you may access the service via WhatsApp by scanning a QR code located throughout the resort or through the Sandals app.
GINA is best used for:
This service is monitored throughout the day and is the most efficient way to have concerns addressed.
For more complex matters, the on-site team remains available to assist.
Sandals Visa Signature Card – The Sandals Visa Signature Card is available for guests interested in earning points and benefits toward future travel.
Card features may include:
Promotional offers (such as statement credits after meeting a minimum spend requirement) may be available. Please review current terms and conditions for full details.
Apply or learn more here.
Loyalty & Travel – Sandals Resorts offers an on-property rebooking program that may include incentives or discounts for future travel.
Information is available in your room and at the Loyalty & Travel desk located in the resort lobby. I do encourage you to take advantage of this program if you are considering a future trip.
If you choose to rebook your next Sandals or Beaches vacation while on property, I can continue to assist with your reservation. Please note this is not automatic—your booking must be transferred to me within a limited timeframe.
To ensure a smooth transfer, please follow these steps:
This process must be completed within two (2) weeks of booking. Many clients choose to complete this before departing the resort.
The Sandals Foundation / Pack for a Purpose – Sandals Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Sandals Resorts, supporting communities throughout the Caribbean.
Guests have the option to contribute in several ways:
Donated items can be dropped off at the resort and will be distributed within the local community. A list of requested supplies can be found at:
www.PackForaPurpose.org
Participation is entirely optional; however, these programs provide a meaningful way to give back during your travels.
Internet / Wi-Fi – Sandals Resorts offers complimentary Wi-Fi for unlimited devices.
At some resorts, Wi-Fi access may not be available until you have completed check-in, as it is linked to your room number.
Once checked in, connect to the Sandals Wi-Fi network and open your browser. You will be prompted to enter your room number and email address. An authorization code will be sent to your email—enter this code to complete setup. Please save this email, as the same code may be used to connect additional devices.
Tip: Consider downloading apps such as WhatsApp, Skype, or MagicJack to make calls and send messages over Wi-Fi.
Cell Phones – If you plan to use your phone internationally, contact your provider in advance to review available plans and pricing. International roaming charges can be significant.
To avoid unexpected charges, place your device in airplane mode and use Wi-Fi for calls, messaging, and data when possible.
Social Media – Stay connected during your trip or once you return home—I always enjoy seeing photos from your travels.
