During the day, dress is casual including shorts (if the season is warm), slacks or jeans and comfortable shoes for walking tours. There are no “formal nights” in the evening; recommended evening dress is “elegant casual.” For ladies, this may include a dress, skirt or slacks with a sweater or blouse; and for gentlemen, trousers and a collared shirt. A tie and jacket are optional.
We suggest you pack comfortable walking shoes, dressier shoes, a collapsible umbrella/lightweight rain gear; items you can layer like lightweight jackets/sweaters; sunglasses, a sun hat/visor, sunscreen; and toiletries including a travel-size hand sanitizer. Depending on the season and destination, you may also want to add a warm coat, gloves and water-resistant footwear. We recommend you bring an electric adapter for North American devices (see the Stateroom section for details). You may also wish to bring binoculars and a sewing repair kit (pack scissors in your checked baggage). If you are traveling with a companion, you may wish to pack a “half-and-half” suitcase in the event one of your suitcases is delayed. Be sure to clearly mark your bags.
Please remember that checked baggage might not be accessible at all times. For peace of mind in the event of unexpected luggage delays or other airline complications, we advise you to pack the following in your carry-on: an extra set of clothes and shoes; all medications required for the full duration of your trip, in their original, labeled containers; eyeglasses/contacts/lens solution; important papers including insurance, medical records or allergy information, passports and other travel documents, emergency contact information; camera gear, memory cards and batteries; and valuables. Also consider packing your preferred toiletries/makeup in your carry on and remember that all liquids, aerosols, gels, creams and pastes must be in travel-sized containers (less than 3.4 oz/100 milliliters) and all fit into a single quart-sized/liter-sized bag.
