De Ruijterkade (River Cruise Quays)
This street runs along the waterfront directly behind Amsterdam Centraal Station. It is the most common docking site for river cruise ships.
Historically, this area was a key administrative and commercial part of the harbor. The large "Havengebouw" (Harbour Building), which housed the city's Port Authority (Havenmeester), was built on De Ruijterkade in 1960 and was, for many years, the tallest building in Amsterdam.
Today, De Ruijterkade is split into East and West docking spots, placing cruise passengers right in the heart of the city, with immediate access to all public transportation.
