Golden monkeys are a rare and endangered primate species found in the Virunga Mountains in Rwanda. The Golden Monkeys have unique yellow orange patches that make it easy for travelers to spot them as they play, run and jump within the tree branches.
Golden Monkey trekking in Rwanda starts in the morning with one session per day, hence travelers are advised to report at the headquarters by 7:00 am for a short briefing about the trekking procedure and the rules and regulations when trekking, then later transfer with a park ranger fifteen minutes away from the Park to enter the green forest.
The golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park Rwanda are divided into two troops, with the largest found in Sabinyo. This troop has 80 to 100 monkeys hence the most visited troop in the park.
