Head north to the small village of Hawes, where you’ll meet a local shepherd whose family has worked these hills for generations.
Watch as he and his dogs demonstrate the remarkable partnership between human and sheepdog, bringing to life the traditions Herriot wrote about. Continue to the Wensleydale Creamery for a cheese-making demonstration, followed by a hearty lunch of regional specialities.
On the way back to the hotel, your guide may stop at the atmospheric ruins of Jervaulx Abbey, a serene and photogenic corner of the Dales.
