The experience begins with a visit to the Arenal Hanging Bridges, a 3-kilometer (2-mile) walk along natural trails that cross 16 bridges, including 10 fixed and 6 suspension bridges rising up to 55 meters (180 feet) high. Along the way, it is possible to admire the richness of the rainforest and spot wildlife that inhabits different levels of the ecosystem, with the silhouette of the majestic Arenal Volcano as a backdrop.
The next stop is the La Fortuna Waterfall, where approximately 500 steps lead down through tropical forest and basalt rock walls. At the end of the descent lies a stunning 70-meter (230-foot) cascade, where visitors may cool off in its natural pool and enjoy the surrounding scenery.
After this experience, enjoy lunch at La Finquita, a farm-to-table restaurant offering authentic Costa Rican flavors made with fresh ingredients from the farm.
The journey continues along the 1968 Trail, located in the area impacted by the volcano’s historic eruption.
