Make your travel day even easier with the Fly Delta app. After download, check in up to 24 hours before your flight as a guest, log in or register for a SkyMiles® account. From there, add your trip confirmation number to access your trips. When you’re logged in, you’ll be automatically checked in 24 hours before your flight, and you can use Today Mode to see your boarding pass, baggage tracker and more. DOWNLOAD HERE

Up to 24 hours before departure, you can check in online at www.delta.com. Select “Check In” in the page header or go to My Trips. If you aren’t logged in, enter your confirmation number, SkyMiles number or credit card number to access your itinerary. You can print your boarding pass or get an eBoarding Pass on your mobile device.

Travel Within the US

When you’re traveling within the United States, Delta suggests to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours prior to departure. For most airports, you must be checked in at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure time. Additionally, you’re required to be at the gate and ready to board 15 minutes before scheduled departure. Checked bags will not be accepted at the airport more than 6 hours prior to scheduled departure time, and they will not be accepted for the flight after 1 hour prior to scheduled departure. 

International Travel

When you’re traveling outside of the United States, Delta suggests arriving at least 3 hours prior to your departure. You must be checked in at least 1 hour before your scheduled departure. Additionally, they recommend being at the gate and ready to board 45 minutes before your scheduled departure time. 

Note: If you are traveling from an especially busy airport such as Atlanta or Orlando, you may want to consider adding 1 hour to your arrival time.

Your Main Cabin Economy ticket allows for free seat selection when free seats are still available. You have already been assigned seats. You may view, change, or upgrade your seat assignment during check-in or in advance (recommended) on Delta's website by visiting My Trips and entering your confirmation number, SkyMiles number or credit card number to access your itinerary. 

Preferred Seats:

• Exit row seats
• Bulkhead window and aisle seats
• Window and aisle seats in the front of Main Cabin

These seats are available to eligible customers on Delta and Delta Connection aircraft. Preferred Seats are available for purchase up until the check-in window closes on most Delta operated flights. Keep in mind that Preferred seats are non-changeable, non-refundable and cannot be transferred to a new flight or itinerary. In the event of a cancellation, you may receive an eCredit for the value of your Preferred Seat if you cancel your flight before the 24-hour check-in window opens.

Paid Upgrades:

Using the My Trips seat map or the offers presented on the Trip Details page, you can select a seat and pay to upgrade your trip to Delta One®, Delta Premium Select, First Class or Delta Comfort+® on eligible flights within the U.S. and Canada, from the U.S. to international destinations and on most exit-international flights to the U.S. after purchasing a ticket.

Paid upgrade seats are: 

• Typically changeable and refundable, depending on the fare rules of the original booked ticket
• Not eligible to be transferred to a new flight or itinerary
• Unavailable for purchase once the check-in window for the flight has closed

If you need to cancel, you may receive an eCredit for the value of your paid upgrade if you cancel your flight before the 24-hour check-in window opens.

In some cases, customers with Special Service Requests (SSR) on their reservation are not eligible for post-purchase upgrades such as exit row seating, to ensure they are assigned to a seat that meets the needs of their request.
