What Are Gratuities?

Gratuities are basically tips given to the hard-working crew members on a cruise ship. These folks do everything from making your bed to serving your meals and mixing your favorite cocktails.

Who Gets the Tips?

Gratuities are distributed among:

• Your Stateroom Attendant 
• Dining Room Staff
• Other Service Personnel

 How Do Gratuities Work?

Whether you decide to pay them upfront or have them added to your bill onboard. You have two options:

1. Prepaying: You can choose to pay these tips upfront when you make your final payment for the cruise. This way, you don’t have to think about it while you're on vacation. 

2. Onboard Payment: If you prefer, you can let the cruise line add these gratuities to your onboard account. They accumulate daily and will be charged to your account, which you settle at the end of your trip with the Guest Services Desk. 

Gratuities for Royal Caribbean currently are:

• $21.00 USD per guest, per day will be applied to guests sailing on any suite; and
• $18.50 USD per guest, per day will be applied to guests sailing on all other stateroom categories.

Additionally, an 18% gratuity will be automatically added to all pre-cruise and onboard purchases of beverages and beverage packages, specialty dining and specialty dining packages, room service and mini bar purchases. A 20% gratuity will be automatically added to all pre-cruise and onboard spa and salon purchases. These gratuities are included as part of the purchase and cannot be removed
