The magnificent Minoan Palace of Knossos is perched up on the hill of Kephala, overlooking a fragrant pine-forested valley. The capital of the Minoan civilisation was the first civilisation in Europe, and also one of the most advanced in the ancient world.
The lavishly frescoed, colossal Palace of Knossos is the largest Bronze Age archaeological site in Crete, and comprises of more than 1500 rooms, occupying 20,000 sq. metres. It’s a labyrinth of mythological charm and historical importance and boasts exceptionally high-quality art and pottery artefacts.
Explore the Grand Staircase and the Throne Room, and admire the ornate frescoes that adorn the excavated walls of the ancient Minoan settlement.

After exploring the iconic ancient Palace of Knossos, it’s time to live it up in the cosmopolitan port capital of Crete. The final resting place of Crete’s most famous son, Nikos Kazantzakis, who wrote ‘Zorba the Greek’, is a vibrant city filled with an abundance of rich colour, charm and heritage.
The city’s Venetian fortress of Koules and its collection of mansions, Byzantine churches and Turkish fountains offer a plethora of fantastic photo opportunities. Stroll along the scenic waterfront to find the perfect spot to stop for a cup of coffee or a freshly chilled drink.
