We are so excited to kick off your Switzerland adventure in beautiful Zurich! 

Because many of you are traveling to Europe for the first time, we want to share a few helpful expectations so you can arrive prepared and excited 

European hotels—especially in historic areas like Old Town—are full of charm and character, but they do differ from what we’re used to in the U.S.:

• Room Size: Rooms are typically smaller than American hotels. This is very normal in Europe, especially in city-center boutique properties.
• Beds: Many rooms will have two twin beds pushed together (this is standard in Europe and called a “double”). True two-bed rooms are limited.
• Layout: Each room may be a little different—part of the charm of a historic hotel!

• Many older European buildings have small elevators—or sometimes none at all.
• If there is an elevator, it may be tight and slower than what you’re used to.
• A few stairs here and there are very common in Europe—just part of the experience!

• Packing lighter will make your trip much more enjoyable, especially with trains, transfers, and smaller hotel spaces.
• We recommend 1 suitcase per person (if possible) plus a carry-on/personal item.

• Styles and room sizes will vary from city to city
