This is the part of the story I really want you to know. Because this trip didn’t start with a spreadsheet, a perfectly mapped out itinerary or a list of things I thought a group should want to do.
It started with a feeling.
I’ve always loved the kind of travel where you have enough of a plan to know you’re going somewhere amazing, but you leave enough room for the trip to become something of its own once you get there. And when I started thinking about what I wanted this Greece experience to feel like, I kept coming back to the way Warren and I travel.
We are not the same kind of traveller. At all!
I love the initial planning. Warren absolutely does not. Like really does not!
I’m the one who will randomly discover somewhere I know nothing about, become completely obsessed with it and announce, “We’re going there.” That’s how we’ve ended up in places like Holbox, Bacalar and Antigua.
I figure out the logistics of getting us there, and Warren starts looking for the adventures while we are there.
And that's where things get interesting...
Warren is an adrenaline junkie. I am… not that. I often say "We are not the same!" Sometimes he convinces me to step outside my comfort zone and join him. And sometimes he goes off to do his crazy thing while I find a beautiful spot, order a glass of wine and relax.
And, it works!
We don't have to want the exact same things to have an incredible trip together. We don't have to do every activity together. We don't have to experience a destination in exactly the same way. We just have to be willing to make room for each other, stay curious and let the trip unfold.
That is where Beautifully Unhinged came from.
It isn't about being disorganized or throwing the itinerary out the window. It's actually quite the opposite. I will still obsess over the details so you don't have to!
✔️ It's about having a thoughtfully planned trip and then being willing to pivot when something unexpected catches your attention.
✔️ It's about lingering over lunch because nobody wants to leave.
✔️ It's about saying yes to the boat day.
✔️ It's about someone wanting the adventure while someone else wants the wine.
✔️ It's about taking a wrong turn and discovering something wonderful.
✔️ It's about having the freedom to make the trip your own while still being part of something bigger.
And that is exactly what I wanted this Greece trip to be.
I didn't want to create another group trip where everyone is expected to follow the same schedule, eat at the same restaurant and participate in every activity from beginning to end. I wanted to create a trip that feels like travelling with great people.
A trip where we experience some incredible things together, but where there is also space to wander, relax, explore, opt in, opt out, meet someone new, have a spontaneous adventure or simply sit somewhere beautiful and do absolutely nothing.
And I especially want couples to know that you can do this together even if you travel very differently. You can be the person who wants to hike, explore and chase an adventure (with Warren🏃♂️➡️ ) while your partner is perfectly happy spending the afternoon by the water (with me ☺️). You can have different interests and different comfort zones and still come home with the same amazing memories.
That's something Warren and I have figured out along the way, and it's a big part of what I want to share with you in Greece. This isn't just about going to Greece. It's about how I want you to feel while you're there.
Relaxed. Excited. Curious. Connected. A little adventurous. Completely taken care of.
And maybe just a tiny bit beautifully unhinged. 😉
I know this trip won't be for everyone, and I don't want it to be. I want the people who read this and think, “Wow - THIS is how I want to travel,” to join us.
✋The people who want beautiful places and incredible experiences, but don't need every minute controlled.
✋The people who can appreciate a great plan but are happy to change it when something better comes along.
✋The couples who don't need to do everything together.
✋The solo travellers who want the freedom of travelling independently but also love having people to share the experience with.
✋The people who want to laugh, eat, explore, drink wine, try something new and come home with stories that don't sound like everyone else's.
Those are our people.
And if you’re reading this thinking, “Yep. I think I might be one of them…”
Well…
Welcome to Beautifully Unhinged. 💙
Greece is going to be one amazing adventure! We can't wait to experience it with you ☺️
