The Temple of Philae is a beautifully preserved island sanctuary near Aswan, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis and famous for its romantic setting on the Nile among granite rocks and palm trees. Most of what visitors see today dates to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods, with grand pylons, colonnades, and a birth house that celebrate the myth of Isis, Osiris, and Horus.
