Dear Traveller,
Thank you for booking your upcoming trip.
Our records indicate that your itinerary travels through the United Kingdom. We wanted to make sure you are aware of the below important information regarding entry to the United Kingdom.
Recently, the British Government opened their Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for U.S. and Canadian passport holders. This ETA will be required for all U.S. and Canadian passport holders arriving in the United Kingdom on or after January 8, 2025. This includes travelers to England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. This requirement applies to travelers staying in the United Kingdom AND those connecting on international flights in the United Kingdom. However, it was recently announced that those on international connecting flights that do not pass through UK border control will be exempt from getting an ETA. An end date for this exemption has not been announced and we encourage travelers to continue to check the official website for restrictions.
To complete the application, you will need a digital copy of your passport, passport photo, and a credit card for payment. Additionally, you will be asked to scan the ePassport chip in your passport using your smartphone. When doing this, remove any cases on your passport and smartphone, then scan the back cover of your closed passport. The cost of the ETA is $20, and it is valid for two years from the issue date. Please allow 3 working days for processing. For more information and to apply, click here.
Please note: If you are on our 8 or 9 Day Affordable Irish Highlights, 10 Day Ireland & Belfast, or 12 Day Kaleidoscope of Ireland, you will also need to apply since you travel to Northern Ireland.
The information above is ONLY for U.S. passport holders. All other citizens should check with the appropriate foreign consular representative for requirements.
Please contact us if you have any questions. Thank you.
