Every cruise line assesses a daily gratuity to each passenger, regardless of age. This gratuity is shared among all the seen and behind-the-scenes crew members who work hard to ensure you have an enjoyable experience. They include your cabin steward and waiters as well as laundry personnel, maintenance/cleaners, kids' club crew and more. Because many of the workers who receive this are not directly interacting with guests, it is not recommended to attempt to pay your gratuities in cash directly to the crew. However, in some cases you may find that a crew member has gone above and beyond for you and deserves an extra gratuity. In these cases it is acceptable to personally deliver a cash tip at the end of the cruise that is in addition to your daily gratuity charge.
There are two options for paying your daily gratuity:
- You may elect to prepay them at any point up to 3 days prior to your cruise departure (note that no changes can be made to your reservation from 3 days prior onward due to ship reporting requirements).
- You may elect to pay your gratuities once onboard by registering a credit/debit card with the cruise line during your online check in process. The cruise line will then automatically charge your card for the grand total of your daily gratuities at the end of your cruise.
If you wish to prepay your gratuities, you may select this option here and authorize the payment for it at point you are ready to pay up until 3 days prior to sailing.
