Feel the pulse of picturesque Prince Rupert, perched on Kaien Island's northwest shore, on this tour through the City of Rainbows. Prince Rupert is known for its stunning waterfront, vibrant arts scene, and rich Native history.
Hop aboard a vintage-style wheeled trolley. Your local expert guide points out the highlights of this beautiful and remote coastal city -- the only municipality nestled in the majestic Great Bear Rainforest. Hear about the boom, bust and rebuild of Prince Rupert's tumultuous economy. You will also learn about the local Tsimshian Nation and Sm'álgyax-speaking people. Wondering how on earth to pronounce that? Your guide has the answer to this and many other questions.
From the trolley, snap a photo of the local Tsimshian Nation's totem collection, with the backdrop of the ocean and mountains that frame the small port.
Continue through scenic winding streets, past Service Park and some of Prince Rupert's earliest residences, still intact.
Visit the Seal Cove Salt Marsh for photos and the miniature Sunken Gardens Park just across from the cruise terminal.
Guests wishing to stay in town to shop or explore independently are welcome to do so but must make their own way back to the ship.
Please note: Participants must be able to board the transportation with minimal assistance. Once on tour, walking is not required. Terrain includes grass, gravel, and paved paths.
