Experience many of the rare and endangered species and see those which only come out at night. See unique species such as wet a, glow worms, and tuatara. There's a good chance your group will see some of the 150 little spotted kiwi who call Zealandia home - sightings of kiwi are common on these tours (circa 80%), but are not guaranteed. Other creatures you might encounter include pateke, Maud Island frog, kaka, and takah. Gain insights into New Zealand's natural history and the significance of the unique species within Maori culture. The tour will end with a replenishing cup of hot kawakawa (bushman's tea) in the Visitors Centre. All proceeds raised contribute to the ongoing work of the sanctuary to restore nature. Your visit is an important part of the sanctuary's success. Please wear/bring: Comfortable walking shoes, warm clothing, and a waterproof jacket. You'll be venturing into the bush so please dress to the conditions. Please note: Species seen on tour may vary. Tours depart in most weather conditions so come prepared. In very extreme circumstances, tours may be cancelled for safety reasons at Zealandia's discretion. Zealandia Eco-Sanctuary is located at the end of Waiapu Road, Wellington, New Zealand.
