Civitavecchia is Rome's cruise port, sitting about 50 miles (80 km) northwest of the city center — roughly a 60 to 90-minute drive depending on traffic, or about 60 to 75 minutes by train. It's a straightforward transfer, but the distance is worth factoring into your post-cruise plans.
Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) is approximately 40 miles (65 km) from Civitavecchia — a direct drive of about 50 to 70 minutes, bypassing central Rome entirely. If you have an afternoon or evening flight the day we disembark, it's entirely doable to head straight to FCO without going into the city. And utilizing Oceania for that is a great idea and easy as its all on them.
If you want time in Rome, plan on at least a night or two. A same-day dash into the city and back to a flight is a long, stressful day, so I like to give all the optoins. Staying a night near the Vatican or in the centro storico gives you a real taste of the city without the rush.
A few options to consider:
We can help arrange hotel options in Rome or a private transfer from the port to FCO or the city if you dont want to use transfers or hotels that Oceania offers. Just let us know what you're thinking!
