Description

On this tour we will visit the oldest Demarcated Region in the World (1756), which was considered a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2001 - the Douro region. Duration: 10 hours About the Tour You will have the opportunity to learn not only about the history of two important family farms but also how they produce and age their Port and DOC Douro wines. Understand how the effects of the region's climate and rich soil influence the grapes, learn about the special storage techniques that result in these characteristic flavors, and hear about the preparation of both unfortified and fortified wines. Throughout the day, you will pass by some of the most beautiful viewpoints and landscapes of the Douro, as well as some local villages. The Douro is the region in the world with the most vineyards planted in the mountains and this will certainly be an unforgettable view! Lunch is a mandatory stop on our tour! You will taste local Douro dishes paired with DOC Douro wines in one of the two Quintas that we will visit. A visit to these three Quintas would not be complete without tasting some Port and DOC Douro wines, the nectars that put the Douro Valley region on the map!
