Arrival to Leticia from Bogota. On arrival, transfer to a comfortable hotel in Leticia. Leticia has long been known for being a shipping point for trading with tropical and aquarium fish. It is the capital of the Colombian Amazonas region and has country borders with Brazil and Peru. This unique position makes it an exciting place where the natives from all three countries come and trade their products. Visit to the local market where you can experience jungle products, such as fruits, cassava, and varieties of fish. Continue on a tour of Tabatinga by local transport (taxi or tuk-tuk), where you can stop at various points of interest, appreciating its culture and infrastructure. Visit the market square and some shops that will provide insight into Colombian-Brazilian culture. In the afternoon/evening begin your walking tour of the city of Leticia, which ends in Santander Park at 17:30. Every day, simultaneously, thousands of screeching "pericos" (parrots) gather for nightly rest. The sound and sight of the birds are unique and a bit bizarre. There are also plenty of options for shopping during the guided tour before the jungle trip starts the following day.
