  • FAQs

    Antarctica - Frequently Asked Questions.png

Do I need a passport or visa for this trip?

All guests will need a valid passport with at least six monts of eligibility remaining, but most travelers do not need a visa for Argentina or Antarctica if staying under 90 days. Requirements will vary based in the passport issuing country.

A valid passporrt will be required at time of booking.

    Is travel insurance required?

While medical evacuation coverage is included, other travel insurance is required for this trip. The cost will vary based on your age and coverage level, and we’ll help you select a policy that fits your needs

Does the cost shown include airfare?

No.  International airfare will be in addition to the cost shown.  We can help recommend the best fares and book flights for you.

What is the price if I am traveling alone?

Pricing shown here is for double occupancy.  If you prefer to have your own cabin, a single supplement of 150% applies for categories E1 - AO, and 200% for Suites.

Will I get seasick crossing the Drake Passage?

It’s possible, but not likely. The Drake can be smooth or rough, depending on the weather. We recommend bringing motion sickness remedies and consulting your doctor before travel. Should you not have what you need on board, the ship's medical staff is there to provide support.

Is there a dress code onboard?

The atmosphere is relaxed luxury—no formal wear required. Comfortable, casual attire is perfect for both dining and downtime. Most travers wear jeans and long sleeve shirts or sweaters.

How physically demanding are the excursions?

Most excursions involve moderate activity, such as getting into and out of the zodiacs, and walking on snow, ice, or rocky terrain. You can choose your level of participation each day, and the expedition team provides support for all fitness levels. If you have concerns, let’s chat about accessibility.

Will I be able to step foot on the continent?

Weather permitting, you’ll have multiple opportunities to go ashore during shoreside landings and explore the actual Antarctic continent. There are typically two excursions per day; one is a zodiac, sightseeing cruise and the other is land based.

What happens if weather impacts our itinerary?

Expedition cruising is flexible by nature. Your captain and expedition leader will adjust the itinerary to ensure a safe and rewarding experience—even if that means changing course for better conditions or wildlife sightings.
