  • Why Galicia?

    Destination Overview
Tucked into the lush landscapes of Galicia, Santiago de Compostela is a city where ancient tradition and rich culinary culture come alive. As the endpoint of the Camino de Santiago, it holds deep spiritual and historical significance, with a stunning UNESCO-listed old town and the iconic Cathedral of Santiago at its heart.

In early May, the city is especially inviting—mild temperatures ranging from 55–70°F (13–21°C), blooming gardens, and a touch of spring rain that keeps the landscape vibrant and green. It’s the perfect setting for wandering cobblestone streets, relaxing in historic plazas, and discovering hidden corners filled with local charm.

Santiago is also a gateway to Galicia’s renowned wine regions and exceptional culinary traditions. From fresh seafood and artisanal cheeses to crisp Albariños and bold Ribeira Sacra reds, the flavors of the region are a feast for the senses. With its deep-rooted heritage, scenic beauty, and celebrated gastronomy, Santiago offers a richly rewarding start to any journey through Northern Spain.
