Glaciers, Wildlife & Coastal Charm | Alaska Cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam 2027

Sep 12 - 19, 2027

There’s something about Alaska that just feels different. The scale of it, the quiet moments, the way the scenery seems to stretch on forever. This is one of those trips that stays with you long after you’ve unpacked your suitcase.

I’ve put together a special group sailing aboard Holland America Line’s Nieuw Amsterdam for September 12, 2027, and it’s a beautiful way to experience Alaska without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. We’ll sail southbound from Whittier (near Anchorage) to Vancouver, visiting some of the most scenic and iconic areas along the way, including time in Glacier Bay, which is always a highlight.

What I love about this itinerary is how easy it makes everything. You unpack once, settle in, and let the landscape come to you. Glaciers, coastal towns, wildlife sightings, and those peaceful days at sea where you can just take it all in.

This page has everything you need to know about the sailing, what’s included, and how to join the group. If Alaska has been sitting on your bucket list, this is a really special way to experience it… and I’d love to have you come along.

A quick note as you look through everything…

Here’s a quick guide to help you find what you’re looking for:

If you’d like to see everything included in the trip, scroll down and click on “Full Itinerary.”

  • Pricing & How to Reserve Your Cabin

Cruise pricing is dynamic and can change at any time based on availability and demand. The earlier you lock something in, the better your chances are of securing the best value and the cabin you really want.

At the moment, there is a selection of Inside Staterooms and Ocean View Staterooms available. Verandahs and Suites are either currently sold out or have not yet been released by Holland America Line. I’ll continue to keep an eye on availability, so if something opens up, we can always revisit options.

If you have a specific stateroom type or location in mind, just let me know. I’m happy to put together a personalized quote based on your preferences and get that over to you as quickly as possible. I can also place a short courtesy hold to lock in pricing and amenities while you review everything.

To place a courtesy hold, I’ll need the following for each guest:
    • Full legal name (as it appears on passport)
    • Date of birth
    • Address
    • Email
    • Telephone number

To officially reserve your space, the deposit is $350 per person, and final payment will be due before June 14, 2027.

If Alaska has been on your list, this is a great time to start the conversation. Availability can shift quickly, especially on well-planned itineraries like this.

  • Why Sail Alaska with Holland America Line

There are a lot of ways to see Alaska, but Holland America has been doing this longer than just about anyone. That experience really shows in how they design their itineraries and onboard experience.

They get you where it matters most
Not every cruise line has access to places like Glacier Bay, and that’s one of the biggest highlights of any Alaska trip. Holland America has long-standing permits, which means you’re not just seeing Alaska…you’re seeing the parts that truly make it unforgettable.

    Perfectly sized ships for Alaska
Ships like the Nieuw Amsterdam are large enough to offer great dining and entertainment, but still small enough to feel comfortable and uncrowded. It’s a nice balance, especially for a destination where the scenery is the star.

    Designed for scenic cruising
Alaska isn’t just about the ports. It’s about those quiet moments out on deck, watching glaciers, spotting whales, or just taking in the coastline. Holland America does a great job of making those moments easy to enjoy, with plenty of viewing areas and a more relaxed pace onboard.

Strong focus on destination and culture
You’ll notice more of an Alaskan feel onboard. Local touches, regional cuisine, and enrichment programs help you better understand what you’re seeing, not just pass by it.

    Itineraries that just make sense
They’ve been sailing Alaska for decades, and it shows. The flow of the itinerary, the time in port, and the scenic cruising days are all thoughtfully planned so you don’t feel rushed.

If Alaska is on your list, this is one of those cases where choosing the right cruise line really does make a difference… and Holland America consistently gets it right.

  • Holland America’s “Have It All” Package

One of the things I really like about sailing with Holland America Line is how simple they make things with their “Have It All” package. Instead of adding everything piece by piece, this bundles the most popular onboard extras into one easy, upfront price.

    Here’s what that typically includes:

    Beverage Package
Enjoy a wide selection of wine, beer, cocktails, sodas, and specialty coffees throughout your cruise, with service charges already included.

    Shore Excursion Credit
You’ll receive a credit (based on the length of your cruise) that you can apply toward excursions in port…which is especially nice in Alaska, where tours can really enhance the experience.

    Specialty Dining
A night (or more, depending on the sailing length) at one of Holland America’s specialty restaurants is included, giving you a chance to enjoy something a little extra during your cruise.

    Wi-Fi Package
Stay connected with onboard Wi-Fi, whether you want to check in at home, browse, or share a few photos along the way.

What I like most about this package is the peace of mind. A lot of the extras that people typically add on are already taken care of before you even step onboard. It makes the experience feel more relaxed…you’re not constantly thinking about what everything costs along the way.

For many travelers, especially on a destination like Alaska, it ends up being a really nice value and just makes the whole trip feel a little more seamless from start to finish.
