Departing the Hawaiian Islands, Viking Vesta turns south into the heart of the Pacific Ocean — one of the most remote stretches of ocean on earth. These five sea days cross the equatorial region and the ITCZ (Intertropical Convergence Zone) on the way to French Polynesia.
What to expect on deck: Temperatures climb noticeably as the ship crosses into tropical latitudes. Days are warm and humid with brilliant sunshine, though brief tropical showers are possible — they pass quickly and only add to the drama of the sky. The ocean here is a deep, almost electric blue.
