Board a ferry this morning across the Strait of Georgia to the city of Vancouver, crossing from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen; travel to the train station for an early evening send-off aboard VIA Rail's The Canadian - and your journey to the awe-inspiring Canadian Rockies begins. Celebrate the start of your overnight journey to the Canadian Rockies with a champagne toast; dinner aboard the train this evening and sleep on board the train tonight - you will be nothing less than stunned by the spectacular alpine scenery that dawn reveals!

Packing for Your Overnight on "The Canadian" Your itinerary includes an overnight train journey on "The Canadian" from Vancouver to Jasper, embarking on Day 4 and arriving on Day 5. Due to limited space inside the train's bedrooms/roomettes, your primary piece of luggage must be stored separately in the train's baggage car, denying you access to the contents of your luggage during your overnight aboard the train. IMPORTANT: A special duffel to be used for your Day 4 overnight aboard "The Canadian" will be mailed to your home prior to your tour departure. Please be sure to bring this bag with you on your journey. (We suggest leaving it empty and packing it inside your primary luggage.) This duffel bag has been selected to provide you with adequate space for the toiletries and limited items you'll need during your overnight on board "The Canadian". We will safely store your remaining luggage in the baggage car during your time on board, and you will be reunited with it on Day 5 in Jasper. Please also note that storage space (for your primary piece of luggage) in the baggage car is limited, and primary luggage weighing more than 50 lbs. (23 kg.) will result in your being charged an overweight bag fee. Your primary piece of luggage will be delivered to your hotel room at the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge in Jasper upon arrival.
