LAUNDRY: Most lodging offers laundry services, but you may do self-service laundry in your room with travel laundry detergent. You’ll be able to send out laundry at the hotels which will take a day to be returned. Recommend to pack 5 days of clothing and send out the laundry on the fourth day.
ATTIRE
- Dress conservatively – cover shoulders, cleavage, and knees and bring a scarf to cover head inside mosques.
- Athleisure pants, shorts & tops, leggings - light weight, moisture wicking, natural fabrics, and wool fibers.
- Sample of Companies for UV protection and wool
- Dressy and some smart casual evening attire for multiple nights
- Swimsuits (conservative) and cover up
- Wrap / sweater / warm layer (for evenings)
- Light rain jacket
- Gaiter (to block the sun on neck & wick sweat)
- Socks & Shoes - comfortable footwear is essential
- Compression socks (short, mid & long) for long-haul flights and long walking days
- Gym shoes/flats for trekking through the sand
- Sandals/flip flops for the hotel
- Nicer-occasion evening shoes
NON-ATTIRE
- US Dollars: Arrive with ~$250 pp in small bills for snacks, smaller shops, etc. (all gratuities pre-paid)
- Financial Copies: Make a copy of all your credit cards (both sides) and passports (if electronic copies not included) and put in a separate location from your wallet.
- Medicine / Toiletries / Nutrition
- Medication - Carry all essential medications in your carry-on luggage and/or day pack
- Hydration Support
- BOTTLED WATER ONLY & NO ICE - make sure bottled water has unbroken seal and use it for brushing teeth (trip includes unlimited bottles of water during the tours and meals)
- Toiletries: Travel-size items
- Small First Aid Kit Considerations - Your guide will carry a comprehensive medical kit for any accidents that may occur. In addition, it's recommended each guest brings a small first aid kit including:
- Sunscreen SPF 30+ (Clean Brands: Earth mama, Blue Lizard, Deep Living Skincare) and powder-mineral base for face via retractable brush for quick application
- Band-aids, Medical tape, Blister/chaffing repair gel, Moleskin pads or roll (eg: Blistex or Compeed pads).
- Antibacterial hand gel/wipes
- Here is the CDC's great and comprehensive list to pack smart; e.g., Advil, Tylenol, antibiotic ointment, anti-itch ointment, eyedrops, digestive enzymes, normal vitamins, antiseptic solution, anti-histamine tablets or cream, antacid tablets, anti diarrheal, and indigestion preparations.
- Holistic anti-nausea / motion sickness medicine - tablets or melt-away/dissolvable tablets (if susceptible)
- Dry mouth lozenges - good for keeping mouth/throat moist in dry or dusty conditions.
- A pair of nail scissors and tweezers. (Be sure the scissors are not packed in your carry-on!)
- Restroom Info.
- There is a toilet on the bus and toilets at the entrances to most sites.
- For the public toilets, bring your own toilet paper/tissues and tip the attendant 20 EGP to use the toilet.
- Glasses
- Sunglasses - preferably polarized
- Spare prescription glasses or contact lenses & solution, if used
- Snacks and protein bars: Good energy during daily activities., consider nut/dried fruit packs and favorite protein bars - e.g., clean plant protein IQ bars
- Technology
