Here we Go!
We'll set out on foot with a private guide who'll lead you on a dazzling walking tour through Amsterdam. Meander alongside the beautiful UNESCO-listed canals, fashioned in concentric circles around the old city center. See the late 19th century Amsterdam Centraal, designed by the architect responsible for the stunning Rijksmuseum, and take a daytime walk through the oldest parts of town. Spot the National Monument to the victims of WWII as you check out the iconic Dam Square, flanked by the 17th century Royal Palace and 15th century New Church. Pass the world famous Anne Frank House on your way to the trendy Jordaan neighborhood, lined with quaint cafes, shops, and more.
Then we're off for our walking food tour which will include: Dutch apple pie · Dutch sausages · Dutch wine & cheese tasting · Fish tasting: herring, kibbeling (fried cod), smoked eel · Indonesian satay (“rice table” dish) · Bitterballen · 4 drinks of your choice, including local craft beer or Dutch jenever (Jenever is to the Netherlands what vodka is to Poland or whisky is to Scotland. And that means – whether you’re drinking it straight up or as part of a cocktail – it’s a must-try when visiting Amsterdam. Pronounced ye-NAY-ver in Dutch (or “geneva” in English), jenever is the quintessential Dutch spirit – so much so that it’s often referred to as “Holland gin.” But don’t let that fool you: jenever is in fact the precursor to English gin – so we have a lot to thank this plucky, juniper-spiced Dutch spirit for!)
