Departing on foot with a private guide, set out for a half-day walking tour to Museum Square where you'll visit the Rijksmuseum, the most iconic and highly visited museum in the Netherlands. As you walk to Museumplein, be dazzled by fact and anecdote relating to the sites you pass along the way, while also learning about the Rijksmuseum's history, dating back to the late 18th century in The Hague. On arrival, spend the next few hours discovering segments of the 8,000 pieces of art and history on display, spanning paintings from the Dutch Golden Age to historic Asian artifacts. With an enhanced knowledge of the Rijksmuseum collection, your guide will be able to focus your time to ensure you see the Rijksmuseum highlights, including famous works by Vermeer and Rembrandt, among others. Take a return walk back to your hotel or bid farewell to your guide and continue to explore the museum at your leisure.
Because I already know that people want to visit other museums, I thought we'd split up into groups to go to our museum of choice after the Rijksmuseum.
We will pick a place to meet up for drinks and dinner.
