Timing matters when purchasing a plan. Some of the most valuable benefits, like coverage for pre-existing medical conditions and Cancel For Any Reason options, are only available if you purchase within a limited window (typically 10–21 days from your initial deposit). If those benefits are important, it’s best to purchase early. If not, you may be able to wait and add protection closer to final payment, depending on the plan, while keeping as much of your trip refundable as possible until that point.
